I've been checking the progress of our thread on XoO's forums, but it doesn't seem to be taking very well, so I'm glad you made the effort to come over and join us.

To answer your question, I believe you'll find the balance should be fantastic when the game is released. However nothing is predictable once our product reaches the hands of thousands of people, we could see a strategy form that makes a certain unit or race grossly overpowering we will definately take it into immediate consoderation. However, delays can happen due to finding solutions on balancing, balance is a delicate situation that has many side effects for minor changes and this is something you'll have to take into consideration regarding the length of time it takes for us to patch it. However, 6 months or longer is way too long I expect we should be able to resolve most problems within a month to three months at the maximum.

Players will find a way to make anything imba.

A month or two isn't so bad for balance issues. I suppose what has bothered me about other RTSes is more that they delay bug fixes so they can release them along with balance fixes. Often the biggest balance problems are due to bugs, so it makes more sense to me to release bug fixes ASAP, and then take longer getting the balance patches as polished as possible.

Bug fixes tend to come rather quickly at the moment, usally any bugs encountered by the staff playtesting or running the editor are fixed in a few hours or at most by the next day. However once it's released it may take a few weeks for us to release bug fixes.

Well there are allways some extra bugs in there sometimes especially with online play.
