Default Unit Limit

why is it that in a bunch of forums ive seen ppl saying that this game will be able to support thousands of units but in every video and screenshots ive seen of this game they all have only like 80 ppl in them???in one thread they were talking about the game supporting up to 16,000 units, is that true?

Well you could make better title for your thread.. =) anyway as i guess even if there you can have thousand of ppl fighting there you also can have 80 ppl fighting and not always 1000. Tho i that videos if there arent 1000 those orcs than it is because they were not needed so much to be there to make that battle. (and dont worry if they say we get 1000 we will get it no mater what you see on old video trailer).

Don't worry, they said there will be thousands of unit under you command and in some screenshots they show the pop cap and it is 4200 or some other number around that.

The pop cap is around 1,000 for the humans, a little lower for the elves, and significantly higher for the orcs.

To confirm - Alex is right on the mark. Slightly higher actually: ~1,500 base pop.

So while not quite 16,000 pop, with 6 players it could get as much as 5-6 battles. Keep in mind - some of your pop, be it in mmo or skirmish will be taken away by economy units - for example human player might have something around 300 farm animals, and 300 peasants, leaving 900 pop for units.

But as far as user made scenarios, or single-player skirmish goes armies could/would be bigger.

No torches? shameful! I can totally see some scenario's where there has been a rebellion either 'put down the rebels' or 'lead the rebels to victory'

One of the subplots in human MMORTS does involve a peasant revolt, actually. In one part, some of your peasants try to run from town and you have to attack them (trying not to kill them) to scare them into not leaving. I always feel bad for the peasants when I play it.
