Do you mean fountains spikes with heads on them etc by aesthetics cause if you can that would be cool also where you are based would really detirmen your early tactics even on other terrain because your city is your main unit producer

I believe how it works is that there are building plots that you can choose to build different buildings on. There will be different places where you can put walls so castles in the same area don't mirror each other. I would imagine that on building plots that aren't for walls, you will be able to put like either a house or barracks or warehouse or something like that, for humans at least.
For elves, you can put stuff on trees and the walls will be somewhat similar to humans but would have to connect to trees at some point or something. You will probably be able to choose between different plots where some stuff will go. For orcs, build whatever wherever. I could be totally wrong, though, please correct me if so.

At the same time, though, as your castle expands, I think you get more building plots. I think there is a set rate of expansion, however.

I just always liked the ability to build where you want when you want. it gives you more free reign over your domain. Building plots take out part of the enjoyable "build it how i like it" aspect and take the fun out of building a city all together in my opinion. To me it's like comparing a free roaming rpg with sub-quests all over the place to one that guides you along a set path that you must follow offering a few optional sub-quests along the way.

I think it's sad that only Orks can freely place their buildings and I would love to search the map for a strategically good spot for my city and not have it autoplaced.
Base-building is an important feature of most RTS and I think it would be great if it would be in this game as well . |
