I don't know why. Almost of the soldiers are actually left-handed, come to think of it. I guess it's just another unique thing about Mythador.

Heh, in Earth only 10% are left handed. Guess that in Mythador things are inverted.

Nice screenshot, I like zooming in too.

The sieges look really cool and realistic, I wasn't too attracted to them at first.

Isn't everyone left handed? When did the right hand become such a fad?
...
...
...
lol
that is just a stupid harmless engine glitch with rendering the models... should be fixed before beta.
You could look at all your men in a reflection of water, then they all will be right handed!
Like this swordsman Hes Right handed! See!

lol nice :O its like a shadow with a fully formed reflection... Little late for haloween though :P lol

Nice to see everyone will be right handed i think it looks more natural that was as thats the way everyone naturally presumes people will be. Could be intresting if you wanted to have certian regions where the people were indeed lefty's to either show the segregation and muliplier affect within the gene pool or whatever. like the tribe mercenaries etc are lefties.

Or maybe some soldiers are right handed and other left handed. You never know
Professional soldiers almost always wielded their weapon in their right hand because it was the only way to maintain formations, so a left handed person either became ambidextrous or didn't join the military.

Outside of formations though it was usually an advantage, the left handed person spends most of his time practicing against right handed people. The right handed person however has no idea how to fight them and is at a disadvantage. A good example is fencing - an average left handed fencer is almost always going to trounce a right handed opponent with a similar skill level. What's really amusing to watch though is two left handed fighters. Neither of them have any clue about what to do.

Well here i will make you little wrong ... =P. I am learning in swordfighting and there we practice both with left and right hand and also defend with left and right hand ... so dont know why they wouldnt practice that also in more medievalish times =). Beside it is not hard/much different if you have sword in right hand to fight one that has sword in left hand. (talking about one-hander doh =))
Just my opinion.

This is just historical fact - the majority of people are right handed and formations HAVE to be consistent, it would be pointless to make 9/10ths of an army fight with their off-hand.

People didn't train for one on one combat back then, maybe knights or rich and spoiled aristocracy would have practiced swordplay like that, but no military would have. True one on one combat is more of an artform than actual combat, it would be very rare on a battlefield - and I've done plenty of one on one and field battles with SCA myself. You either learned to fight with the right hand, or didn't join a professional army back then.

Back then, many left-handers were viewed as sly and sinister. Few were in professional armies but when two people met, they would shake eachother's right hand or, if wary, pad the other's right side to check for weapons. A left-handed soldier could not be trusted as his weapon would be concealed on his left side, undetected by these simple checks. So in this aspect, left-handed soldiers were superior.

I don't know how many of you are Christian or familiar with the Bible, but using this trick as a left-handed soldier, Ehud was able to sneak a short sword and assassinate and the king.
