"No dont shoot at them, send in the Irish, Arrows cost money..."

Conscripts and untrained forces have been common in armies for many years, they form the bulk of many armies and have their place... give them a sword or spear and put them in the frontlines to defend your trained troops, they were essentially the meat shield... Needless to say, these men lived short lives....

The cruel reality of it all, life is cheap. Steel and proper training is expensive.

Discussions on ancient battle tactics made me think of 0 A.D., a freeware RTS being developed currently. It's just gone open-source. You guys ought to check it out (if you haven't already).

Back on-topic: Pleeease give us some screenies of in-game formations.

There have been formations in the screenshots so far, they don't really stand out and aren't highlighted at all however. We certainly could use more information on them however.

I'd quite like to see a short video showing the UI of formations, like how the selection works, and how the movement looks. Even if it's 30 seconds long with no sound, that'd be kind of very cool.

Only to the foul and evil.

I would like there to be a few basic formations, but I want it to lean at least slightly towards creating your own formations based off of information of the enemy army from scouting and from the terrain.
