Would any of the developers want to give a guidline about the maximum/average polly/triangle count for the units and buildings? That way I would be able to make some models now so I can start modding right away when the game (and editor) is released, while still having time to play it too.

Yeah I wondered this too. I'm guessing that the poly count is around 500 on average for the units.

They said it was on average 500 in an earlier post, but also said in the same post that they were improving many of the poly counts on units. They had a screenshot of a hero that had a 5000 poly count.

@Darathor: 5000 seems a lot to me for just 1 unit... even if it's a hero

Well I can't remember where it was and I can't find it. I don't remember the exact number of polys.

5000 polys is probably the average size of the units from empire total war. Looking at the units for this game that is way too high, like massenic, even for a hero unit.

If that just bumped up the poly count too 1000 polys for the units, it would look amazing.

Haveing more polygons doesn't make it better, its how you use them.

I was just thinking of ETW and would point out that higher graphics doesn't mean better game>>> Lack of an editor for ETW and horrific DRM along with bad code and without a very nice PC you won't be able to select any grahics higher then medium...the computer will lock you out...I had such high hope for ETW...Looking forward to DOF

@GPS51 I agree with everything you are saying, but graphics do have there place just like gameplay. Graphics add to the immersion of a game. Just think without that z axis this game would have a whole different feel.

Most games that come with an editor, its preplanned for the public.

Some games don't even use an editor like Uncharted drakes fortune for instants. They made their whole environments in Maya. If I'm not mistaken a lot of games made last gen where made in a 3d modeling software.

If you have ever heard of Torque Game Engine, the editor that comes with it sucks (I shouldn't say comes with as the editor in built in to the engine which you acceses in game.). You could do most of your designing in code. They just released their new engine Torque 3d which is a lot better.

I found the thread, it wasn't a hero that they said got improved, but some models. I don't know which, though.

@developers Is any of those visual upgrades implamented or was it scraped (from the link above me)?
