I havent had any problems with the games, what has been happening to yours?

And true in system achievments are just as affective but still people do like them. Including myself while it isent a key factor it is always nice to have some record of what you have done. E.g. brought the destruction of a 100,000 troops etc. I dont think anyone would not like the idea of having a record of what you have done.

The only advantage GFWL gives is advertising if anything, everything else can be done by Rev themselves. Record keeping/stat tracking is very simple, as are achievements. I don't know everything about it's pros and cons, but as a consumer - I've only ever noticed negatives about GFWL. Perhaps there's something for publishers/developers in there that's useful, I can't be certain but I really don't see the positives for it.

Hmm i guess for a developer/publisher advertising is worth its weight in gold. If noone hears about the game then you wont have very succesful sales. In real terms i always thought it would be some form of sponsership by microsoft where they endorse the product in return for using the game to showcase both the ablilty of there platform but also raise there profile also.

GFWL isn't that valuable as far as marketing from everything I've seen, I certainly don't know anyone that checks GFWL for new releases or anything, and the lobby for it doesn't really do much either. Again, the persistent name tag and the things that come with it is all that it provides. Ie friends/clan whatever. But that can all be done at a game level, doing it at a name level increases what it can do, but it's also annoying having a couple hundred 'friends' after you play a few different games.

It has it's place for consumers, perhaps some people like the features, I prefer it done at a game level, and I just don't like extra software on my PC that I don't ever use. If I didn't need GFWL to play those games I wouldn't have it.

True, i dont like the fact you have to run steam to play total war. but hey cant be helped. Was prone to freezing though sometimes when i first got it untill they released a patch.

Whats to stop a player from requesting battle with a player over and over after the player pays a tribute?

I think thats only a solution when the game fails..(to cover protection).

If a tribute is received, the attacking player cannot declare a battle again for a set duration of time.
