Q. When will the game be released to PC and Xbox 360?

Q. What are the system requirements for Dawn of Fantasy?

Q. How many beta stages will there be?
A. There will be seven beta stages: five closed and two open. Forum members will have priority access to the closed Beta stages. For more information on the beta stages, please check out the announcement.

Q. What beta stage are we currently in, and when is the next stage?
A. We are currently in the second stage, which focuses on Lay Siege and Castle Defense skirmish maps. On August 30th, we will move into the third stage, which will introduce the Kingdom Wars game mode.

Q. When will there be an official gameplay video?
A. Official gameplay videos will be posted whenever we believe the game is ready to be presented full-on. Head on over to the game's official website (http://dawnoffantasy.com) to watch the latest videos.

Q. When we will see more screenshots?
A. Check the Media Fair forum every Friday for a new media showcase.

Q. What will the online part of the game offer?
A. Dawn of Fantasy will feature 2 online modes; MMORTS mode which you control a persistent kingdom and standard Online Skirmish with up to 8 players. Skirmish modes include Lay Siege, Castle Defense, and Build & Defend.

Q. What is MMORTS? What are the online MMORTS mode main features?
A. MMORTS stands for “Massively Multi-player Online Real Time Strategy”, you control a kingdom in any one of the game’s factions and start in an area of the world of your choosing. Your kingdom stays with you as you progress through each battle, both wins and losses. There is both PVP (Player vs. Player) and PVE (Player vs. Environment) play with questing and missions that will allow your kingdom to advance in size and power.

Q. Will My MMO City be attacked while I am offline?
A. No, when you are offline you are not available to be attacked. Although we know this feature lacks “realism”, we have to make it possible for people to leave their PC without fear of their hard work being destroyed unfairly.

Q. Will the game come out in different languages?
A. English, French, German, Russian, and Spanish are currently the languages slated for release. However, this may change within the next couple of weeks.

Q. Will Widescreen be Supported?
A. Yes, widescreen is fully supported with both 16:9 and 16:10 resolutions.

Q. What kind of resources are used?
A. Dawn of Fantasy like other Real Time Strategy games has 4 main resources: Food primarily for training troops; Wood primarily for building buildings and upgrades; Gold primarily for training troops, resource trading, research and much more; Stone primarily for building walls and wall upgrades. In addition, there are Influence points, which can be gained from questing and PvP, and can be spent toward future DLC packs and expansions.

Q. How do walls work? What are their main features?
A. All of the walls are walk-able by almost all units. Walls take quite a bit of resources to build, but once you have enough resources you can start building a layer of walls around your stronghold at your main building center. Most walls are upgradeable with various counter-siege upgrades available if you have enough resources. All factions have their own unique type of siege equipment to gain access through the gates and or onto the walls of your stronghold.

Q. Can I build buildings anywhere in-game?
A. Humans have building plots, areas where you can build various buildings except houses, houses are built simply by pressing a button at your Town Hall.

. Elves have Great Elven Trees, massive magnificent trees that they build there buildings around in a natural way. They can build a few ground-based houses inside their stronghold as well.

. Orcs Can build anywhere the buildings can fit and are not blocked by obstacles. Orcs can build 1 layer of wooden walls around there general area of population.

Q. How easy is modding the game?
A. We are releasing very powerful editing tools with the game which include: World Editor, Unit Editor, Model and Animation Viewer. Anybody with 3D Studio Max will be able to easily make his or her own units. And all game files will be completely open to modding.

Q. How easy is it to make a map?
A. If you have used other mapping software previously you should find a slight learning curve when using our map editor. Our map editor is very powerful and allows you to make very detailed maps and also allows for scripting using the LUA language as well as many other features not included in many other map editors.

Q. Will there be a place to find user-made maps online?
A. We are implementing a service called Reverie Online which will be the online community for Dawn of Fantasy and any future Reverie titles. There we will house any user-made maps as well as additional content developed by ourselves. Also to be found on Reverie Online; tutorials from the development staff, resources for making your own modding community, and clan/guild community management.

Q. How far along in development is the Xbox 360 version?
A. Development will not begin until the PC version has been released. At this point, an Xbox version is a distinct possibility, not confirmed.

Q. How long does an average online (MMORTS) quest take? Is there a feature to pause it and continue it on a later?
A. It depends on the quest, some quests range from simple tasks of building the starting essentials of a village to taking your army and traveling lordship or place to accomplish the quest elsewhere away from your homeland. There will always be an appropriate time to save your progress; although we are unclear at this time if we will implement a saving feature for far away quests.

Q. How long does an average online (MMORTS) Online Player Vs Player game take?
A. It depends mostly on the factions and player’s tactics in the war, but an average game should not be substantially longer then any other realistic RTS, but you also won't be seeing any 2 minute games like you do in games such as C&C3.

A.Yes, using a Duel Core or Quad Core processor is highly recommended, it will reduce any lag you encounter, just like any other game.

Q. Will there be any customization options as far as units go such as heroes and their abilities, statistics, etc?
A. Yes. Adding an ability for a unit is relatively easily done with the editor, as well as modifying almost any statistic of the unit.

Q. Will the AI be a possible opponent skirmish mode?
A. Yes, AI will be playable against in skirmish modes.

Q. Is skirmish mode playable over LAN?
A. Yes, online skirmish mode is playable over LAN.

Q. Will it be possible to make custom skirmish maps with more than 8 players?
A. No, eight players maximum.

Q. Can you ally in skirmish or MMO mode?
A. Yes, any sort of alliance is possible. It is a bit more complicated in MMO mode, but the short answer is yes.

Q. Is the single player mode allowed to be played cooperatively?
A. No, single-player is only for one person at a time.

Q. How are battles accepted in MMORTS mode?
A. First a message will appear, saying that someone wishes to fight you. You may either pay tribute or start a battle.

Q.Is there a limit for a unit's experience?
A. Yes, as of now, this limit is capped at level ten. However, this is still subject to change.

Q. Is there any reward for being ranked #1 in MMORTS mode besides bragging rights?
A. Bragging rights about being number 1 sound pretty good!

Q. Can I play the game on PC and Xbox 360 with one account?
A. Unfortunately, this decision is not up to us and will be decided at a later point.

Q. What happens if someone leaves an MMORTS game in the middle of a battle?
A. They lose the battle, and must pay reparations to the winner.

Q. In the MMORTS mode, will players be restricted to only one territory or will they be allowed to own a conquered territory and have one additional castle on the world map?
A. Every player may have up to 4 cities of various races. At higher levels additional cities can be conquered.

Q. In MMORTS when two players fight, does the attacking player bring his Stronghold? Or does he set up some sort of camp?
A. Setting up a camp will be more common, but we will also allow stronghold vs stronghold fights.

Q. In the MMORTS, will you be able to choose not to get attacked by another human player?.
A. There is a way to stop other players from attacking you, but it drains your resources. If another player chooses to attack you, you can simply pay a tribute and the fighting will not start. Also, when you first set up your MMORTS city, you will not be able to be attacked for a little while.

Q. Will the dragons be a playable race?
A. Unfortunately, no, dragons will not be a playable race in the original Dawn of Fantasy release, but they may be included in upcoming expansions.

Q.Will there be any animals, birds, fish etc. in the environments?
A.For wild animals, birds are in the game, as well as deer. As for domesticated animals, there are cows, sheep, and chickens. More animals will most likely be added at a later time, but right now they are not the focus of attention.

A. There is no cost to play in MMORTS mode.

Q. Will you be able to see other players on the world map during MMORTS mode?
A. Not all the time - and what you`ll see on the World map is gonna be 1/100th of all user activity. We will show armies and cities allied to the player - and perhaps units and cities which the player can immediately fight against - that would already be enough to fill the world map. Also stuff like your player armies or cities under attack might be shown as well. For example, your army of Level 5 is in Wold Region. There are 500 total player armies and 200 cities in the Wold Region. Out of all of these, only 300 armies and 70 cities are close to your army's level and can be engaged.

Q. How are projectiles handled in Dawn of Fantasy?
A. Projectiles in the game are all simulated. An archer's range will be quite large, although the farther away you are the less accurate your archers become. The same physics apply to any increase in height, but unlike some games, Dawn of Fantasy is much more realistic in this aspect. If you have an archer on a mountain a hundred miles high, you won't be able to shoot across the map accurately. Projectiles do not follow their targeted unit seen in many other games.
We are still deciding about friendly fire with projectiles. right now, arrows ignore allies all together.
Right now also if the target is to far away for a semi direct shot or on the other side of the wall, archers will volley their arrows up in the air at a decent degree for a long range rain of inaccurate arrows.
Note:We are still debating if every arrow will cost a very small amount of wood to restrict overuse.

Is the PC version going to be a 'Games for Windows' with the acheivement system? Universe at war had it and it provides a new element to the game.

How big of an effect do quests have on your army? Are they just a side/bonus kind of thing or are they more critical? Also, are quests also in the campaign mode?

By events he probably means...events. Like special updates for a specific amount of time. For example umm... lumber event...150% lumber these weekends. You know that kind of stuff. Or an event quest which is a special quest that anyone can do from this day to that day and get a special reward from it.
Are there are side quests by the way?

Not sure if this has been answered or not, but is there small plots outside the castle to be captured or garrison structures to create smaller defences from invasions/to use for increased line of sight.

I'd say quests are critical. Without quests you cannot unlock new levels of PvP. Quests also give you tons of influence (a very important resource), as well as much food/wood/gold/stone.

The campaign has few side quests.
