Default Veterans Graveyard

Lets face it people, nothings sadder than knowing your level 20 or so Mounted Knight, Ogre, or Treant just bit the dust, couldn't get him out of that fight in time, all that training getting him up to that high level all gone for good.

So what, hes just gone for good? No memory of his legacy other than just a screenshot saying "I had one"

I feel heroic units like this deserve their own gravestone honouring their glorious times.

Just think about it "Here lies the level 20 Mounted Knight (custom name here), who died after slaying 300 ogres at the hands of (Enemy player if exists)"

Basically, high level unit dies, we get a gravestone to place somewhere in our home city honoring his death. Along with our own text to commemorate our loss.

Or even better, "Here lies jojo, the level 20 ogre who choked on the 6 millionth human skull he tried to eat."

That way, next time you have a friend visit your town, they can say, "Wow you had a unit that high?"

Edit: Additionally, how about a TrophySkull/Statue of our opponents high level units when we slay the elites of an enemies high level unit. What better way to create a strife between two players, than a constant reminder of who was responsible for the death of their greatest warriors. And an intimidation to other players, when they see that you were responsible for slaying the high level units of a top level player.

The key thing when thinking of these gimmicks is "How can our game be made better, without the dev team losing months of sleep over it" (Granted I don't know how difficult this would be to implement, but it's not like I'm asking for a whole new race or anything)

I'm sure everyone wants more ways to decorate our city, well this is a harmless little way of doing it, while also lessening the blow of losing our high level units.

Now instead of "CRAP I let my high level unit die *Insert multiple explitives here*" it will be "Crap I let my high level unit die... Rest in peace old friend, you will be avenged."

More dramatic feeling, feels more realistic in terms of the emotion of war, and makes our units feel more alive than just simply pieces of data on a server.

We can easily add a graveyard - that grows with a new tombstone for each dead battalion. However - how do you picture the engraving working? - and doesn`t it seem a bit excessive? For us work on Engraving is probably gonna take 10 X more time than just adding graveyard & tombstones.

Well Actually how about this

Just make a Graveyard which will be Increaed by one Tombstone for any Max LvL Unit that Dies
Now if you Click on it you can see a the list of the Units which Died

Than it would be just a simple script call which will add the Unit to a list

Wont take much space and should be fairly easy to Programm

Well I figure just let us put our own engravings, as a sort of note to commemorate the loss.

Sunleader basically nailed it, graveyard could just be a list of units (or list of high level units) that have perished recently. It could just have the unit type, and it's level upon death showing next to the unit, and optionally could show the enemy unit that caused the killing blow, and also optionally the enemy player (if exists) who was responsible for the deed.

Then for each unit on the list, let us have the ability to basically just put a note next to it, if any of this is too excessive then go with whatever is simplist. Just having a list of the recently dead works too.

Also, potential influence market here, you could somewhere down the line let players revive fallen squads with an influence cost based on their level, (like 1 to 3 influence per level) of course I think it's probably better just to let them rest in peace for the dramatic effect.

I kinda like the idea, of the growing graveyard, where you just get a text list with fallen units and the possibilty to add a one sentence eulogy. Although then it should be possible to name units BEFORE their untimely demise otherwise the fun would be greatly reduced^^.

Concering buy back/revive mechanics - personally I would save that as a special mechanic for a possible later undead race (as they went fairly high in the poll).
