The beta hasn't stopped. We just had to shut down the server to update a lot of stuff. You can still test the game, just not the MMO part (everything else works).
To answer your question, the server should be back up sometime this weekend I believe.

So I take it, that the online kingdom part is still down at this time. Man, they could really use a server status page. I thought there was a problem on my end (just joined this morning) and was trying out things for a good hour. Does the status thingajng on the updater only show the status of the updater server? Is it a status thingajing at all?

just go to User CP (top right) and change it. If you don't remember your password, you have to log out and then when logging on...
