The New Homelands of the Orcs

Today we will be concluding our three-part showcase of the new MMORTS homelands with the orc level designs!

They are still a work in progress, but beta testers will be able to try them out as soon as the Online Kingdom mode is back online after a period of concentration on the Kingdom Wars mode. The screenshots below show the wall designs of the homelands, but individual player homelands will be much more impressive and unique with more towers built on available plots, more wall defenses, and units to defend from atop the walls.

For more information on homelands, check out the Online Kingdom Overview, as well as the New Elven Homelands and New Human Homelands.

According to orc lore, the first orcs were created every time lightning struck the ground. This is how, in the Older Time, the first orc ancestors arrived in the region Flattan Rol, and from them were descended the entire orc race. To this day, they live by the ethos of warriors born from lightning and earth. Flattan Rol is still considered to be the original orc homeland, and the great fortress here is named Makkada, which means “Mother Womb.” The sight of this fortress has terrified many. As the humans say in Teria: “If thy nightmares had nightmares...”

Flattan Rol homelands use the elevation to their advantage, building watchtowers into the cliffs. The homeland is easily defendable with the natural defenses of cliff and forest limiting approaching armies. The land here is fertile, although stone and gold are scarcer here than in other regions.

Eons ago, in the Older Time, a small band of orcs pushed as far west from Makkada as they dared, ever wary of the wrath of dragons. There, in the west, they found an uninhabited forest - or at least, if it was inhabited, they soon corrected the situation. They dubbed the region Thikken Dal, and they became the first of the forest orcs. Some say their skin has changed color as they have become rooted in their arboreal surroundings, though it is more likely that Thikken Dal orcs are simply dirtier than others.

Homelands in this region rely on a mix of heavy wood wall and double palisade walls for defense, given the relative scarcity of good lumber in the Thikken Dal swamp region. But all the same, the homelands are vast with plenty of room for buildings - both inside the stronghold walls and out.

According to legend, a disgraced orc warrior in the Older Time was exiled from Flattan Rol, but allowed to choose the inhabited land in which he would spend the rest of his life. In pride and defiance, he chose the most brutal wasteland known to his people: Brakental, the desert of the south. The Gods approved of his decision, for upon his arrival there was a flash of lightning. Where it struck the earth, his mate emerged from the smoking sand. It is from these two ferocious souls that the orcs of Brakental trace their lineage.

Wood is even scarcer in this harsh region, making the Brakental homelands the smallest of the three. But the people here are as hard as the desert winds. They live where few others can, and have become very resourceful in economic development and very ruthless on the battlefield. Gold and stone are plentiful here, but the same cannot be said about food and wood.

Let us know what you think and which one you want to try out first in the comments section below!

Well, its pretty obvious where i'm settling
one question though, did you switch the screens at the homelands or is this the redesign of the homelands, because Flattan Rol really looks a lot like Thikken Dal and vice versa.
