Default Modifications?

hi, a brief question will there be an oppurtunity to modify the game?

will there be patches (obviously and how many (hopefully not so many like ea)

and if there was modding available with the coding would it be used with finalbig?

We do plan on making DoF very modable. There may be some patches after release though we hopfully will not release many, as we hope to ship as best a product as we can on the first shipment.

Not sure what finalbig is but we are planning on releasing the source to allow more extensive mods.

Big files weren't source code, though; they were definitions and scripts that would be used by the source code. You probably wouldn't be able to understand the source code at a level where you could actually make meaningful changes.

Releasing the source code and allowing for its modification has almost never happened. In fact, there are only a handful of source code modification projects in the history of gaming that have ever been successful, and most of them were in the early days of internet gaming when they were doing something like modding in multiplayer support because the devs didn't see it as a priority.

BIG is the archive format EA uses in many games.
We don't use this one. But there will be as much support as possible for modding.
