I thought there were 6...

1. Elves
2. Orcs
3. Humans
4. Dragons (hurrah!)
5. Amphibians
6. Undead

I know the last 2 are going to be in an expansion though...

The amphibians won't necessarily be in the expansion. Most likely Dwarves and Undead. Minotaurs might have a higher priority to the Amphibians anyway

They probalbly do. Amphibians will take an incredible amount of time to balance.

I think they'd be like the dragons in this game as far as time goes to make or complete them.

A primordial guardian faction would be nice, in an expansion/DOF2. It could be made up of any species, for example in Warhammer it was the Lizardmen but for most convential fantasies it is the elves. Some strange race, at first appearing primitive but have the greatest understanding of magic, have different fighting styles and different infrastructure, base design or resource gathering. Could be like the PeaceKeepers of old who sadly were overlooked and forgotten, or hid away.
