I'm curious if this is going to work out well.

Can it be done? Of course, why not!?
Honestly, I think it is an incredible untapped genre resource. There is an incredible amount of potential for innovative game play ideas that have never been tried before, its an utterly blank canvas. I'm excited to see how this all pans out, it really looks like it will be the first fully realized MMORTS to come along thus far. |

I guess we'll know a few days after 1 June!
I suspect that the gameplay might be very similar to those browser based MMO games where you earn time units every 30 minutes or so. Of course this will be real-time, but with enough saved time units those games are also almost RT. |

I hope that will be a good example of how an mmorts should be done and not one about how it shouldn't be done. Even if DoF fails some group will start work on another mmorts eventually and eventually it will be done right. Though I'm hoping it is done right the first time around or this time around if it was attempted before on this scale.

Yep, so many other games have tryed the MMORTS and failed *cough COH:O *cough.
It isn't the fact that it hasn't/can't be done. It's the fact that others have tryed it and made the balancing so bad, that the game isn't fun at all. |
