I have played both KUF Crusaders and Heroes they were what you say hardcore skirmish because the multiplayer parts were just 1 vs.1.
KUF2 is going to be alot more though, you will be developing an army, controlling units like any rts, conquering territory and fighting over it.

Apart from territories everything else is just building on the foundations already laid during the first few kufs.

I just wanted to give my two cents on the thread title. MMO is the way to go with pretty much every game genre. it makes games more challenging, because "ai" will never be as unpredictable and interactive as actual intelligent life. thus MMOs are a fantastic concept. a MMORTS sounds amazing! now all I need is a realistic war-themed MMOFPS, with ninety-thousand men firing at will.

I still enjoy a good single player game though, since they are easier to pick up and play, without depending on anything but the game.

consequently I like that DoF will have both an on-line and an off-line mode. *a lot*. :-)

Indeed, at least the trailer gives such an impression.

I have been long time fan of RTS, like TotalWar, Warlords Battlecry and i think it can be done in MMO world. Long live the King!

What are you saying? That this game doesn't have unique gameplay and has bad graphics? (sorry if I misread your post).

It's understandable - a good number of our developers worked with Stainless Steel on Rise and Fall and Empires. Personally I've never played the game so I can't really address similarities, but I know that RaF put a lot of emphasis on heroes and navies - both of which are fairly minimalized in DOF.
