Well, this is something quite subjective. However, I've always been a huge fan of Michael Moor**** for his original Elric Saga. And 'Wizard's First Rule' by Terry Goodkind is absolutely, hands down, one of the best works of fantasy that I have ever read. It was originally intended to be a stand alone novel, and probably would've been better for it. The series that sprung out of it can't compare to the first novel - and the TV series based on it is an abomination.

i actually thought the TV series was decent *could of been better and followed book more though instead of a newer story as it almost was* and i think the first few books were all great, it was when u got to the last 3/4 it got a little slow |

yeah.. the first book was excellent. The second and third were decent - just not as good as the first. Some of the other books sucked, and some were alright. And the last book was really good until the ending.
