Umm...Just use the xbox live party feature and you are all set. No need to have voice chat in-game as you can talk in party chat on the side. Set up a party chat for you guild and you are good to go.

theres a wonderful thing on xbox and its called party chat, if you cant be bothered then just plug a usb keyboard into the xbox, it does work

If I recall correctly, doesn't party chat have a limit on numbers? If you had a guild of say 12 people online at once, I don't think party chat would be enough.
Having several chat channels might be nice. One for your guild, small group channels that could be created on the fly, and perhaps a small region chat. A.i. not a chat for the entire "world", but only those close by? You could join subchannels within the world since world chat would of course go down in flames. |

Xbox 360 players could just use the LIVE Party system to talk to guildies no matter what the game allows for voice chat, couldn't they?
