The Orcish gate does kill everything under it once it opens. But the units under it will have a behavior to try and run away from certain death.

Wow. What a great way to boost the orcs in a siege. A quick question though, if the elves are beseiging an orc stronghold and both armies are at max units doesn't that just about guarantee an elven win? Since their soldiers are so much stronger? Unless they happen to stand in front of the gates....

The orcs have a significantly higher population cap (at least 2x), so it will never come down to a scale of 1vs1 at max population.
