We just mentioned that units move, fight and level up as battalions (think BfME or Total War).

Even the unicorns look angry, they remind me of Charlie.

Do the mount and rider fight individually attacking different targets of opportunity or the same enemy. Or does the unicorn just "impale" an enemy on charge after witch the rider takes over without the mount doing further damage (unless you charge again)?

What "bothers" me most about leveling is unit survivability. While the battalion system gives the units much greater ability of endure and take greater (or should I say longer) advantage of their leveled up state, the scale of battles still suggests a fairly high level of 'expandability' and death rate making it difficult to preserve the high level elites.

Of course one can always use cannon fodder. Will there be a "withdraw button" (as in total war) or something similar for easy withdrawal of severely damaged battalions?

I lol'ed... I can so imagine that... It would be amusing to say the least, but surely in the middle of a battlefield you wont see a battalion all duck down and tackle the enemy... They would be impaled... And besides, the elves are more graceful than that surely... It does however seem like an ability that the orcs would have!

It breaks when they attack and there is reduced movement speed. I'm sure other races will all have abilities like that. Sure the elves might seem OP at the first glance, but who knows, the humans might be able to reduce incoming damage by half or something. I don't know whether they can hide while in combat though...

We have a fairly complex system in place already, but we`d really like to bring a standard RPG system of strength, stamina, agility e.t.c stats, as well as various items and equipment.

And no worries about having too much to manage here. Especially in MMORTS mode you`ll get your time to level up and upgrade your soldiers - the options are limitless though - for example let say human - crossbowman battalion could be upgraded through several skill points - into elite defensive melee unit, or into a sniper ranged unit, or a fast micro range unit with great self-heal ...but again what will happen if we put em on a horse?
so i could train some random peasants and turn them into super buffed up Knights? is there a limit to how many skill points we can give to a unit?
also i think horse archers would be a cool unit

wow firstly the units look great and so does the system. Looking at it it will be great to see them being marched around in groups and specialiosation to occus. Will units have there own colours or emblem so it becomes easy to tell which unit is the one you want for the job. Once in the thick of battle and yhou have one specialised for off and one for def. Dont want to send them in the wrong situation lol.

Also how fast does it take for them to level up. is it a level a battle? or few?
