Angry Forced into Windowed Mode

So, I bought the game yesterday and my first impressions aren't great.
Whenever I try and play the game in fullscreen it ignores my desktop resolution and makes the game slightly bigger than my screen.
It's so unplayable I can't see my resources or the top line of my units!
What this means is that if I want to play then I seem to be forced to use the windowed mode but it really seems that the graphic quality of that is... much worse. Also there is no mouse lock so panning right is a damned pain.

Is there any workaround for this kind of issue? I think i'd really enjoy this game if I could play it fullscreen like every other game I have.

It should be of note that I use Nvidia's built in desktop scale option to customer my resolution to slightly smaller than my screen as I have a rather large screen. I've never had an issue of it before but DoF is actually changing my resolution back to native settings instead of just using my settings like other games.
