No XP for ranged elven/dwarven units?

Hello,

I made several fights now with some troops, but my elven archers and dwarven gunmen do not gain any Xp, even if they kill several foes.

Is this a bug? Had it on differend battles in different quests. The melee units do gain XP normally.
