You should view the problem from other perspective and this would be the "I gave a donation for the game to develop further, so I contributed for the evolution of the MMORTS genre".

Maybe do what I did - I bought a copy for my brother The more people play, the better the experience. Another thing is that if we keep buying bloated crap at full price (more than DoF cost at release) then EA etc will keep charging it. This way we encourage indie developers and keep prices reasonable, plus shorten the link between players and developers.

A while back I took the decision that I was going to spend my game money smarter and in addition to encouraging others to buy great indie games I also take part in Greenlight and support projects on kickstarter.

If us gamers spend our money better we will get better games and more sensible (listening) developers. I think Reverie have done a great job on listening to their customers and think this should be rewarded. I also think it's a great game.

Virtually all products go on sale at some point or reduce their price over time.

If you don't think a game is worth the full price, then don't pay it, wait for a sale instead.

If you can't wait and you're willing to pay full price, why complain when others get it cheaper later on?

Hmmm, i dont know whats your problem... u complain about empty servers, but when the price is falling (leading to more ppl buying it = more players), u complain that u have payed too much or what?

After all, when u bought that game, u made a deal. U had an agreement, that the price is ok for the product, otherwise u wouldnt have bought it.
Now after months or more, u feel betrayed cos u payed 10 or 20 bucks more? Thats childish in my eyes - and not very "buddistic" either...

I would even welcome a FTP-model, if it just brings more players + the finances to support that awsome game.

Imo, u are really overreacting in an disturbing kapitalistic way... sorry if u dont agree.
