Will this Game be Free to Play after Buying it (Itemshop Based)
Or will it be a Pay to Play Game (Monthly Subscription Based)


Also if it is a Subscription based Game there is the Question of what Prize it will have in Monthly Payments



I would really like to know this before Buying a Game

There seems to be an Error with the Display after Preordering a Game

I payed via Click and Buy and it was Checked as this in Email and the Sum was booked correctly
still it said that we acceptet your order paid via credit card

well not like I care for a little detail as long as it works out correctly

Thanks for prompt reply. It's obvious people involved aren't doing this for free, I just hope "the shop" won't have negative influence on the game-play as if often the case. Guild Wars shop is smartly designed and offers equal chances of gaining special skills via PvP as well money and money never gets in the way of balanced game-play. A lot of games are claiming you can equally progress either through shop or game-play but it's nonsense and deception in order to drain you out of money (LOTRO is at the forefront of good marketing, good marketing that sustained the development but ruined game-play and obliterated player-base). NCsoft doesn't have millions of accounts by mistake and It doesn't take an economist to see pros and cons of different subscription plans. I trust with these kinds of choices to developers but no-one here is forced to play a game they don't take to their liking. Point of view is dependent on the side you're on: player vs designer but I think it's best if designers see through player's eyes first and foremost for their own sake.

I can't make any guarantees since we still don't know how things are going to look exactly, but from what I see one should be able to stay competitive without spending money (beyond buying the game itself). That's the aim anyway.

Should be pretty similar to LoL or other such influence based systems where you can spend money to unlock things faster but without giving you an unfair advantage in-game. We know players will be able to buy exotic mercenaries (like dwarves and dragons) but those should be balanced by taking up extra pop cap and having their own counters.

In the end, everything in the game story can be obtained for free, simply by playing the game. Money simply allows you to get it faster.

Are quests the only way to get "crowns" other than the cash shop and preorder bonus? If so, is there a finite number of quests and thus a finite ammount of influence you can earn through gameplay?

PvP provides influence as well so, technically, you're not limited in the amount you can gather.
