Default Alignments and their effects

Will there be 'alignments' players can adopt? over time? Which may limit/alter they're units in some way.
Basing more on a DnD standpoint (as an example), A faction of humans having either paladins or necromancers, Based off their alignment.

Nah, I'm pretty sure the unit roster will be consistent but I think the campaign will offer different choices that may impact the story or at least the way the story plays out.

edit: Oh yeah, and spells will have light/dark modes with different effects depending on the "alignment" of the caster. Or so I've heard.

We haven't heard much about the alignment system yet. We do know that spellcasters come in a "dark" and "light" flavour, which essentially translates to offensive specialist and defensive specialist respectively.

Actually there will be sort-of alignments like that in MMORTS.

There are total of 9 regions on the world map, and depending on which region player chooses the way he plays and units he`ll use will vary.

For example human player who`s in a forest region, will be able to gather much more wood, would have access to wooden walls, and would have best archers/siege weapons in-game.

In addition to this, we 'might' include professions. Which will allow player`s town to concentrating in one primary, and one secondary profession. Choosing from the likes of: raids and open field combat, sieges and ranged combat, defenses and research, magic, economy e.t.c.

So in a way usual MMORPG grouping will work online. And for example Elven player with economy will and magic will supply resources and nuking, orcish siege proficient player will take care of sieging, and human open field proficient player will lead field engagements.

Interesting stuff. I wonder how it works out, it sounds fun but also difficult to balance.

Anyway thanks for the new info, it's been a while.

Can any race chose any of the 9 regions, or are they limited by their factions?

It depends where you are located. So since there are 9 total does that mean that Dragons don't get any then?

Maybe dragons live anywhere they want, if that's the case then maybee they don't a central governement or ruling body
