Every single online battle, our armies will carry-over into the next battle, matching strength vs strength in a sort of world wide gameplay mode where we chose sides according to race possibly in an eternal struggle?
How do you plan to store the data, and keep it secure from corruption or outside programs? I mean this is a pretty big concept for a small company. |

For the xbox i don't see it being a problem at all.
For the PC... who knows what people will invent! |

Keeping track of your army is actually very easy, it doesn't take much space to have a text file of what race you are, what units and buildings you have and what upgrades you have. The space it would take up is very minimal, one persons file would be under 2 Kb. All we have to worry about is our server security, which we will make sure is taken care of.

Keep in mind...even If you win by sending your army on a suicide mission, next game won't be as easy without an army. Conserve!

Log files quickly balloon to enormous sizes if left uncompressed though. I'd say a column-oriented database (similar to Google's BigTable) or an object database would be the best way to store user data in this case, because flat files are ugly and a relational database is way more than what this needs.

I have a question, say your playing against noobs and have the game in the bag, could you just sit there and build up a huge army for the next game or will there be some kind of limit?

I hope there will be some sort of thing stopping you from exploiting making uber strongholds when playing noobs (damm turtlers would like that so much) like some kind of max upgrades in one game?
