This is strange - I consider myself to be somewhat of a fantasy adept, and yet I have never heard of this series. I will look it up.

apparently its a really good series... i keep forgetting to check it out... but it still pops out every once in awhile ... so that means it has a fairly large fanbase ^_^

yea it does, unfortunately the author died a couple of years ago before he finished the last book, but there are 11 or 12 books in the series so far, so its a commitment to read them all

hmmm... have the fans gotten anything together, or demanded a write up of the author's notes or anything? I mean, If tolkein had died halfway through the ROTK and, miraculously the first two books had already been published [though I know that the three-book division was artificial - Tolkein wrote LOTR as one book], there would have been riots. Christopher Tolkein would have had to get on the job quick and at least provide a filled in outline for ROTK.

Brandon Sanderson (Mistborn, Alcatraz) is finishing the series with notes by Robert Jordan and there will be a total of 14 books.
