Hmm it would be nice to have that extra layer but im unsure how much focus would be put on the single player or skirmish side of this game. As described before by one of the devs its really a place (skirmish ground/siege) To test out diffrent stratagy's for MMO.

As has been pointed out, it is of course also a place to organise the "official" DoF rankings, not just "whoever has been playing for a longer time and therefore has more/better troops"

I think that this could still play a role in the MMO just on a more epic scale. I don't see why a quest couldn't include capturing an ancient artifact that boosts your troops just as much as defeating a group of bandits. I know the MMO concept of itself is revolutionary, I just think that people who are already seeing extra objectives in RTS as commonplace might be dissappointed with just an attack and defend only scenarios.

I agree with you on that point and it will probably be worked ito the game. I know there are other scenarios which will be put into play. Aswell as objectives to accomplish. This would however be a nice area to move into possibly in an expansion. Although thatw ill have to wait and see,

What I'm trying to say is that skirmish will likely be more competitive than other game modes. The ladder will probably be more in focus on the skirmish lobby.

That's not to say MMO won't be competitive at all, though
