Lo! I'd completely forgotten about the heroes/spell casters! That was one of the reasons why I joined this forum The heroes should fit through the postern gate, especially since they're just one humanoid as opposed to a battalion of them.

i know some hereo's can ride horses (got it from main site) so if thay are riding a horse thay soed go to the main gate again

btw are dragens mountebel

Postern gates probably aren't going to happen. Seems an unnecessary addon to me.

Just delete a section of wall, and you've got yourself a postern gate which can fit siege and cavalry.

well, actually that could work, if it is hidden somewhere on the other side of the city where the enemy wouldn't notice it
