I usally play AOE 2 max 200 pop cap.

it is 90 here. they might improve in the future,but for the moment it's 90 for the town,with 5 armies that can contain up to 60 units.

Note that these are battalion caps, not unit caps. Each battalion can have up to ~15 units in it. On the other hand some special units, like dragons, take up more than 1 point of the battalion cap.

so add to jarno's reply, you are also allowed 5 armies outside of your town each with 60 max in each army, so really the true population cap will be around 7500-9000 people/soldiers depending on race, orcs being most above 9000
