FANTASY FRIDAY Siege Enhancements Hello everyone! On behalf of Reverie World Studios, I hope you're all having an excellent 2011! To make up for the recent period of no media, we'd like to go into things at full charge and show you too new enhancements that will greatly alter the battlefield! If you have a good eye, you may have seen these features in earlier screenshots, but they are being officially unveiled for the first time today! This is a pretty small FF today geared at our more knowledgeable fans, but stay tuned for next week for the biggest FF yet! Based on the request of several of our beta testers, we've decided to add a whole new dimension to stronghold sieges with destructible walls! No longer will attacking armies be limited by the number of gates to ram down: now, any wall is fair game! Surprise your enemies and crush their walls, while bypassing the gates - and quite possibly, most of their archers! Going for the walls is a great strategy for players with a bunch of catapults/trebuchets/bolt throwers that can attack from a distance or for players lacking in rams and siege towers/ladders. Another addition, which was disabled for the last couple years, are siege ladders. Siege ladders, while weaker than siege towers and Treants, provide attacking armies with easy means of breaching enemy walls. Ladders can attach to any wall segment, allowing for surprise attacks from any direction if the defender is caught off-guard. So attackers, be ready to make sure none of these ladders reach your walls! They're easy to shoot down, but the consequences can be deadly if they're successful. Siege ladders cost significantly less resources than siege towers, making them ideal for smaller armies and newer players.

Somebody as already posted this above i think but, ill try to explain in detail.
Another type of siege technique that can be used is the digging under the enemy walls either and plant explosives under them to collapse them or tunnel right under them to get into the city. Now of course this type of attack would only be available to infantry due to the tunneling. For the defensive side there are many methods of counter attacking this sort of attack. Firstly the defender could have upgrades built in his city such as strategically placing a boundary of heavy rocks around the wall in the ground potentially slowing down the digging process of the enemy. Secondly the defender could have other upgrade such as ditches(MOATS) around the castle walls, stopping the defender from bringing in siege ladders and towers and even stopping the tunneling attack. Making the attack have to use other siege equipment to attack the walls. I'm not sure that is the MOATS are in the game but it would be a good idea. |

******* For real, ents destroying walls and allowing you entry in the enemy castle will be epic. Really really epic. And siege ladders are funny. Lol, "do you have walls? OK, we get over it." |

I love the sunlight in this game, so realistic how it casts on the trees and then on the walls but the shadows over ride the light making the whole view as if it were real...thats the kind of detail I love. Also the lustful landscape colors is amazing, for sure the terrain environment detail is 10/10 for me!
