Unfortunately, we may not be able to communicate as well as we would like through language, but I thought some of you would enjoy communicating through visuals. So if you would like to know a little more about some of the other nationalities represented here and share your own at the same time, please post some pictures of your home country or city to give us a universal idea of the diversity here! You can say as little or as much as you would like about your city/country in any language, or post a link to an online article for further reference.
I will start with a few pictures from Seattle, a beautiful (but rainy!) city on the west coast of the United States.
Named after Chief Seattle of the Duwamish native tribe, Seattle is a big port city in the northwestern state of Washington with several prominent tech and business companies founded or based in the city including: Amazon, Starbucks, Boeing, and Nordstrom. Companies nearby include Costco, Nintendo of America, and Microsoft.
Seattle is one of the rainiest cities in the United States, with rain almost every day during the Winter, Fall, and Spring seasons, but locals just take out their umbrellas continue on with their daily lives. Snow is much rarer, but we did get some this past Winter.
Seattle's most notable landmark, the Space Needle, was built for the 1962 World's Fair and was the largest building west of the Mississippi river. Since then, it has been dwarved by postmodern skyscrapers, and is only really photographed from a few locations in which the perception angle makes it seem much larger.
Seattle has its own culture, really into the environment, indie rock and hip hop music, and its own style of rock known as grunge. Seattle is the coffee capital of America, with a Starbucks on nearly every block. Starbucks coffee, Seattle's Best Coffee (now owned by Starbucks), and Tully's Coffee are all based out of Seattle. Seattle is also one of the two most literate cities in the US, with independent bookstores scattered all over the city.
