You should just sign up to show your support of the game. The 3rd beta already has its beta testers, so you are going to have to wait for the next betas.

You are not signing up for the beta (you are signing up for the forums), you have to enter contest or wait until Reverie decides to give away keys (that's if they do that). Most people here got their keys by entering contest posted by Reverie. The next beta won't be for awhile, but keep checking in and see if there are any contest.
