Yeah I'd say don't fixate on one aspect, will inevitably lead to problems in the areas you leave undeveloped. You wouldn't want to have to spend all that economy of yours paying tributes ae.

The specialization tree could be a nice addition.
Id say however it would come probably come down to simpler benefits more along the lines of choosing to specialise in defense, offense or economy....

Yeah I'd say the time would be dependant on army size and level of defence/ Offence being put into play. The more equally matched the longer I assume.
