There was, but there have been a lot of patches lately, the Steam release is much more complete than the initial one was.
I gave it an 8 on MetaCritic, by the way. It's definitely a very solid game....

I logged in to see my max population is 27 when before it was in the 50s. Any idea whats going on? Wasn't sure whether to post this in the bug forum since this must be directly related to the update.
