Well, i have Heard that dwarves are going to be added as a main race so cool! But then i would increase the player cpacity of cities from 3 to 4 (when dwarves are released, so everybody has a chance to try them).
then as other posible oficial races, or mercenaries,or even npc enemies for PVE:
Lizardmen?: (Could have some relation with dragons?) some kind of bipod lizards/dinosaurs.
They would probably become my favourite race.
Mummies, skeletons, zombies, vampires, bats...
Lycans, werebears, ratmen, etc...

Hello nightovizard... yes Dwarfs is planned, another possible race is undeads :) i would love lizards aswell, just because i played Warhammer and played heroes back in the good days with the Lizard people :) but keep coming with the suggestions and the devs will be looking into it.

Lizards and beastmen sounds great. Really hoping to see something unusual in the futurue instead of the standaard races.
I think beastmen could be an interesting faction. Just lump all the mythical monsters together sort of like in Narnia.
-Minotaurs -Saytrs -Centaurs -Harpies -Gorgons and maybe throw in some of the modern fantasy guys too. -Gnolls -Kobolds (The dog/humanoid kind)
Lizardmen should certainly be grouped with dragons.
Steampunk dwarves have been done to death. I'd rather see the faction focused on other things. Goat mounted cavalry? Animated ancestor statues? Giving them a gnome unit might be cool.
I think a barbarian faction has a lot of potential. Sort of a mash up of Vikings Huns and Conan. It might be hard to make them distinct from orcs.
now that I think about it about what you said about steam, I would like to see golems for dwarves too :D rock creatures could be another option for them. Goat mounted cavalry? well that sounds hilarious at first, but if the goats were designed well, and looked bad ass, it could work.
Barbarian faction would be similar to beastmen, which is a cool thing.
While other races are certainly hoped to have in the future this will not be soon, and if we add more it will be at the minimum in 2 or 3 months. Most likely later than that. Although lizardmen are my favorite :P
Also I was thinking about something:
That makes a total of 7 races. I remember that in the scenario editor there is Gaia, and then 1-8 possible players. so I think it would be interesting if every player could play with a different race in a match, but for that another additional race would be needed, so the question is, which race you would add to the list?
At first I thought about the giants, but I see some problems with them, first its dimensions, the weapons they would use etc... I decided to discard them.
Then I considered tritons, a kind oh humanoid amphibious creature, but the problem is that these things live on the ocean, in a underwater city like atlantis. So well I decided to discard them too (although it would be interesting to see them, at least as npc's, or maybe living in islands).
so I came up with another thing, very uncommon in fantasy: insects. I know, they are senn in many scfi as monsters or aliens, but they are very uncommon in fantasy settings.
Imagine some kind of mantis:
or ants, leaded by a queen/king (Your hero)
I think it would be interesting, maybe the insectoid men and the lizardmen could have been enemies for a long time in a yet to discover land found at the other side of the great sea. (when naval battles are released I would like to see the ''great sea'' as a possible battleground between continents).

Insects are an interesting idea, although if we were to incorporate all of this I would think that we would expand the map, perhaps dwarves on the existing continent, and then expanding the ocean and adding navies and continent or large offshore island chain to add the other races. That would add a considerable amount of depth to the game. Perhaps even fishing fleets and maybe some new types of units to harvest resources from the ocean!
And yes since naval units are going to be added, i would make a new continent separated by the great sea. Considering this, all races should have acces to the sea. This would bring brand new features to the game.
And i actually placed the new regions on blank sites as i used this map as base:
Decided to add the beastmen next to the dwarves regions as these regions are in the north and full of mountains, as well as far from civilisatio. also they have an entrance to the sea at the north. All this gives them a barbarian viking feeling, which is good in my opinion. This is a race i wouldnt place in another diferent continent.
Under the beastmen, you can find the undead, necromancers, vampire lords, zombies, skeletons etc... I decided to place them there for 2 reasons: 1 you know of the werewolf-vampire relation, thus i think the borders of both undead and beastmen should be connected. 2 there is a place called the deathlands next to it, perfect setting for them. They have an entrance to the sea on the south.
Then i decided to place lizardmen and insectoid men in a diferent continent at the other side of the great sea. These are the most "exotic" races, and they both live in the jungle and resemble aztecs and maians, so this new continent could be like south America.
