PvP pay-off cost = ?

Is there a mathematical equation which defines the exact amount a target player has to pay as tribute to an attacker when he chooses not to fight in his own defense ?

Since I have not played very much up to now, I have only been attacked twice, and I chose to fight on those two occasions. Being a clueless newbie, I was tempted to pay-off one of the attackers, but since I had no idea whatsoever how much it would cost, I decided to fight.

I used the forum's search function with the words "pay off" and "pay-off" and it yielded no results. I then searched for the answer in many threads, but that important information seems to be buried somewhere. When using Google, it was only mentioned that it was a "hefty tribute" : it would be interesting if the term "hefty" was defined by an exact percentage of resources and/or troops.

I'd be interested to know this as well, since as it stands it seems it's always better to have a small amount of gold on hand when fighting so as to minimize the cost of paying your opponent off.

i belive the % is 75 but thats from my basic math

Thanks for your information, fellow Elf, but after using a Google search, I got the impression that more than gold could be lost.

You believe that it is 75% of the defender's gold : that can be a "hefty tribute".

I find it strange that such an important information is not easy to find. There are a few very good help threads and online guides for beginners, but none seem to give a precise quantitative answer.

Army strength X 5 = gold pay off value
So if you have an army of 1000 strength, pay off will be worth 5000 gold

1. Tries to pay in gold
2. Tries to pay in other Resources

All units and livestock have a default market value in gold, which npc cities use to base their calulations on. Leveled up units also increase this price greatly.

3. Tries to pay in livestock base on default value.
4. Pays in other units based on default value.

Some units are excluded from being in pay offs, such as Dragons, heroes and other rare units.

Thank you very much for the extremely informative answer ! Coming from the game's "Senior Gameplay Programmer" it should be the canonical Truth.

(It is a "huge" help to a game's reputation when its senior developers care enough to post on forums, notably to answer newbie questions.
Again : thank you very much, dear dev.)
