Quest help! "Honors to The Victor"

if anyone has already played through this please lend me a hand because I've tried too many times and lost too many troops to this quest. I'm not sure if it's the quest's problem or just me but Tirranek ( the guy i'm suppose to escort ) keeps trying to "help" me defeat the orcs but instead of helping he keeps dying to the orcs' AOE damage. If it's possible for the devs please make it so that Tirranek doesn't fight?

... I lost the main guy several times as well.

The mission description says Ogers lie in Ambush ... but you simply get invisible enemies.
(Small squads which you cannot see or target while they live. When dead, look humanoid. Strong in melee, weak against arrows, apparently.)

I brought three or four squads of Goblin archers and three Marauders squads (plus some melee).

At the beginning of the mission, the quest guy runs off towards town, into the first ambush. Send your guys right after him.
You won't be able to click on the enemies, so to keep the quest guy covered keep moving your archers and telling them to Stop (Hand icon) near him. When they fire at the ground and corpses start appearing, you've found an enemy.

Once the first ambush is done, you get a short pause (several minutes). I kept my melee and Marauder units next to the quest guy, and used the 4 Goblin archer squads to clear out some more invisible enemies. Be wary of ambushes, the invisible guys seem to move around the map.

Enemies, from what I can tell, move around the map while cloaked and try to reach the quest guy. After a while, possibly after you've hunted down all the stealthed mobs, he moves to the next location. Keeep the quest guy covered until he reaches town (or possibly until you've found all the enemies).

Good luckl.

@Nobodave - the enemies shouldn't be invisible in this quest, they should just be normal Ogres. If they are invisible for you then that is through some sort of glitch. Re-validating your game files might help with this issue. We've had a few reports of invisible Ogres for a few players and are looking into this.

@pisir - Orcs like to fight, so there is no stopping the Tirranek from joining in. Take as many units as you can. I recommend using several battalions of Impalers supported by Marauders and some goblins (for healing). Send your Impalers ahead to intercept the Ogres while the Marauders fill them with arrows. Use your Hero as well to take out the Ogres and heal units after each ambush.

mission is frustrating beyond reason. This isn't an escort mission, it's a mission to try and prevent a character from killing himself. Good to know he likes to fight but you programmed him with a death wish. :\

Try number 11...

This is ridiculous.... been doing this for hours with no success. army make up is 1x Hero 9x Impalers 6x Murauders and 4x elven enchanters for healing (which the escort wont seem to take). This is a cubic pain the @#!

Alright, alright, sorry I didn't reply my solution...I suppose that's a tad selfish, but I figured out the method to this madness of a mission.

PIKEMEN. I brought as many Pikemen units as I could and some archers for good will. Pikemen and archers the best against Ogres, but you need to move quick.

The mission is as such:

Start > Ambush > walk > Ambush > walk > Ambush > end mission.

So you just need to be ready three times. Once you're done killing the Ogres immediately head to the next ambush spot and get working. Be faster than the NPC but don't tread too far ahead as you want to make sure he has the majority of backup when/if the fights. He generally goes straight or to the right.

Going to try this been at the missiion for two days now. And yes Dev's brought Goblins for healing. As the supposed "King" he's damn weak. my hero is WAY tougher than he is. Tirranek should be diving into the fight but he should not be so weak, low of health and no combat healing. He's weaker than my maurauder battalions. . . How is he still in command?

Devs please listen to me on this one.
I really like this game but I am dropping the orc faction because of this mission. If each faction has a mission like this I guess I will have quit the game until it is fixed. I understand the amount of work that goes into something like this and the attachment you feel to your creation but this mission is not fun. It isn't "difficult" or "challenging" it is frustrating beyond measure.

The reason it is frustrating is not because it requires skill or strategy but because of poor game mechanics. The escort target runs ahead and dies to aoe. Note that if my forces have the ogres attention the target stills dies because he stands in aoe.

Even when I divide my forces and run them ahead of the escort to try and intercept the ogres I still fail the mission. Either the ogres and my forces ignore each other and the ogres go straight for the target or the target runs past my forces anyway and still dies.

The healing in this game is not sufficient to heal through this mad mans death wish.

I feel for you and your attachment to this mission I really do but people buy this game to have fun. I have tried this mission repeatedly for about a week now and I have gotten to the point I don’t even want to log in anymore. I am going to try to advance as another faction but I am so frustrated with the game at this point I don’t know.

Edit: I've just been informed that every faction has a quest like this. Also judging by the dates on these posts this is a problem that has been known about for a while and the devs don’t seem to intend on fixing. I really regret spending $40 on the game at this point (bought it for my wife too). I hope you either fix this or put a disclaimer on the sales page so other people don’t get burned.

Theres a reason this game has low scores on all the major game review sites (metascore and IGN and whatnot) the only way to get their attention is to pm them and even then your stuff probably won't get fixed...but hey, atleast you have magic now right? magic makes up for the crippling lag issues, frequent crashes and busted game mechanics....right?

We tried to fix this mission by making NPC hero be the same level as your own hero, but doesn`t look like that has helped. We`ll be sure to make this missions much easier by other means in the upcoming patch 22.

And we are here, we do listen:)
