Voice acting.
Hey there, Im Squiglypig from the Voice Acting Alliance forum.

I really think that Dawn of Fantasy is going to be a superb game, but the voices that Ive heard so far could be better.

Im not saying that I could do better, but Im just pointing you in this direction. Sure, most of us on the VAA board arent pros, but we have talent and a passion for voice acting. If youre interested, look it up.

We are getting the voice acting you have seen in various trailers redone by our publisher.

Nevertheless, we may look into this.

Granted, the voice in the trailer is a little cheesy, but I believe it's AWESOME. I did make me laugh when the guy is describing the aspects of the game, but at the same time it got me really excited. I felt like he was trying to say something along the lines of, "We have made a game SO amazing that you'll never have to play any other game. EVER! If you thought you spent way too much time on video games already, your life will become our game in the new MMORTS."

Yeah, DoF definitely needs better voice actors than were used for the trailer. Fantasy is one of the hardest genres to act for. There's such a fine line between over-dramatic and uninspired, unfortunately.

No offence but in that old gameplay video (you can watch it on dofsource, its kinda rare) the voices are horrible... Will they all be redone? I hope so really.

I'm sure that the voice they used was more of a placeholder whilst resources were spent on the main aspects of the game. Now a publisher is present they will be able to free up more resources for the details.

For the choice of the French voice-over, I would recommend Exequo, I like what they did for Mass effect and Neverwinter Nights 2 a lot.
SPG Studio's work on Baldur's Gate was also full of talent. It was ten years ago though.

The specific voice acting company choice is out of our hair now.

Ah okay :/

Really looking forward to the game ^^
