Allow data collection/variable storage in multi-map campaigns?

Not too sure how your editor works atm, but lots of games with editors just store info for one map and that's it. if you want all your units/stats/variables to continue to the next map is there a way to implement that?

Carrying over achievents (such as heroes leveling up) and failures (such as losing a unit in your party) is one of the things that IMO should be implemented, or at least the capability to do so.

To make your own 300 campaign? muhahaha :p We currently have 299 men and yourself sire... you shall lead us to victory today!
We have prevailed... We must carry on with our remaining 247 soldiers sire we cannot let the persians regroup!
:p

Nah i really think that it should be done, I never have been good at stuff like that but im sure someone would be kind enough to share their maps/campaigns

Question: will the game download maps when necessary as in BFME2 or will there be space on a forum or such to post these maps?

It's a possibility. We already have this functionality in MMORTS because we obviously have to carry many things.

However, if we do implement 'game-to-game' variables, they will not be usable in multiplayer. People could do some pretty idiotic stuff there.

A feature like this is somewhat necessary to create custom singleplayer campaigns. However, I actually see no reason not to extend these features into multiplayer. People are capable of doing stupid stuff with the map editor to begin with, but something like this could open the door to cooperative campaigns so long as people play nice and don't corrupt save files.

I'm reminded of Warcraft III where, in order to establish persistent content, people would actually have an input code that players would put in. Each code was unique to each player's login name, but it was only a matter of time before every one was cracked. People are going to try to find a way to implement a feature like this themselves anyways.

multiplayer would help. it doesn't have to be foolproof since these campaigns don't have to be used for ranked/competitive matches and are different from the standard in-game modes. even if someone wanted to screw things up, there really isn't an incentive to. it's not like they gain anything from making a custom campaign unplayable.

Stacraft II calls this feature "linked maps"
