Fantasy Friday - Elven Minor Towns
Fantasy Friday The Elven Minor Towns Welcome back for another Fantasy Friday! We are excited to announce a huge new beta patch that Reverie World just finished up! This patch offers loads of new content, including: Quote:
Pay close attention to the Freelan'Tal screens, in particular, and you may just spot a first glimpse of one of the new defense mechanisms we've been working on, thanks to suggestions from our early beta testers. This one, the Sun Stone, was suggested by Jean=A=Luc, and can be built on Elven walls to create a healing aura for your troops. This mechanism is most powerful during bright days, and is very difficult to destroy with projectiles. Also, be sure to check out the Media Index for information on the 12 major towns as well as the human minor towns - the orc minor towns will be revealed shortly! Bilt’Rana is a port town built upon practicality. Though within each elf there simmers a great urge to avoid all lesser beings, the elves of Bilt’Rana do good business with Silician traders and traveling human merchants. The permanent population is small, with many elves living here only in the summer trading months, and returning to their favored forests over winter. These elves hear music not only in the wind and trees, but also in the waves, and it is said that local Bilt’Rana children can swim before they can crawl. Bilt'Rana is a great one-stop hub for all your trade needs. The city itself is a busy marketplace that lacks the character and hospitality of most elven villages, but will get you the best bargains around. Centuries ago, a wayward group of high elves were so attracted by the farming practices of the then fledgling human race, that they sought a fertile location in which to copy this mode of agriculture. They built a wall around the Freelan'Tal and forced the wood elves within to farm the land like humans. The high elves prospered for nearly a century, until one day a nhoblio army liberated Freelan’Tal, killing each high elf traitor twice (to coin an elf expression). Since that day, the elves of Freelan’Tal have made good use of the old wall to defend their town. Despite its dark history, Freelan'Tal is a beautiful town of old situated on the intersection of two small rivers. Its people will welcome you with open arms, but don't plan on overstaying your welcome - especially if you reek of High Elf. Freelan'Tal has a great merc market, with powerful Wood Elf mercenaries including Rangers, Sentries, and Treants. The elves of Gel Rans’Ta have developed a reputation as Poletos, "elves who walk apart". The remote location of Gel Rans’Ta does much to create this sort of character, for it is a small place upon the edge of the great Erthee L’Bala swamp. But unlike those in most other small towns, the elves here do not feel inferior. Here, alongside their comparatively mundane methods of subsistence agriculture, elves have developed powerful medicinal herbs and an eloquent magic. These skills are in high demand, for they can be used to heal even the most mortal of battle injuries. Gel Rans'Ta is a small village with a central keep built into a plateau, offering a great strategic point to guard the village from attackers. Many visitors remark on the timelessness of Gel Rans'Ta, having been transported back to a time when the conflict between High and Wood Elves didn't exist. Here, all live together and do their own part to nurture the boleta. Serepha Moota has persevered because of its unwelcoming location. The main gates rarely open, and it is whispered that the locals use swamp tunnels to sneak beneath the lake and access the outside world. Mercenaries from Serepha Moota are known to be stubborn warriors, and will never flee. They are also known to have a handshake that feels likes the death grip of the swamp, and for this reason they are not well liked by other soldiers. Draped in thick mist and flies, it's hard to believe that this village was built as an asylum from what lurks beyond its gate... Serepha Moota is built upon an archipelago, with semi-civilized islands interconnected by a series of rickety bridges. Only the brave venture this far out into the swamp, which explains the village's isolation and feelings of unease toward visitors. Yet, the Elves here are resilient, and have a reputation for creating some of the best potions in Nhob'ru. This high elf river city exudes a fluidity of life that its inhabitants have a special name for – they call it "Valenlos". When the river is high, its energy is echoed by the rhythms of the city. When the river slows in the hotter months, so too does Valen’Tal. This is a place connected to its surroundings, but it is of course connected in the grander style of high elves, whose elaborate structures express the complex mystical relationship between high elves and the land, rather than the more sensual bond facilitated by wood elf tree buildings. The marble city, the whited sepulchre. Valen'Tal hides many secrets behind its white walls. It's a city of paradox, of beauty and atrocity, of politicians and sorcery. Visitors may be awed by the sight of this High Elf mountainous city built upon rapids, but they can just as easily be sucked into the Valen'Tal's perfidious dealings. |
So the plan is that some day we can siege these little gems to our hearts content? I love them btw. The minor towns make mythador seem so alive :D
