Subfactions?

I think it would be interesting to see sub factions and not just one gigantic stereotypical group. Just cause your an Orc for example doesn't mean your going to go with the collective. Based of ideology, politics or many other ideas. It would give the chance for more lore to occur and the ability to expand on factions/concepts or even tolerance between various factions. You could even play into some plot where various members of said factions formed a coalition of some kind to fight a growing superpower that was threatening the way of life for another faction or number of them.

That could be a good idea for a new campaign, for example orcs, humans and elves will fight together against a race of evil demons..somethink like that.:D

Could also be an additional 'specialization' for each faction, maybe 3 subfactions to each faction.

Orcs: Trolls, Demons, War Machine (Like a moderately fast steampunk battering ram that can fire mortar shells at archery range.)

Elves: Grypphins/Hawks, Beasts, Satyrs

Humans: Gnomes, Man-A-Pult (Launches troops into the air over the enemy castle, taking half health but landing behind enemy lines to do damage. Very effective in numbers.) and Ninjas.

Each can be chosen at some point during the questline.

The specialization tree could be a nice addition.
Id say however it would come probably come down to simpler benefits more along the lines of choosing to specialise in defense, offense or economy. They just seem like broader areas that would fit a greater range of play styles.
eg

Defense provides perks such as stronger walls and buildings at cheaper costs and would have a greater array of defensive options to construct.

Offense same applies for their units, higher stats and cheaper costs maybe faster production.

Economy could have increased resource yield and faster rates. maybe gain trade benefits or such.

Of course they would be fine tuned to suit each race's different strengths and weaknesses.

Thats' my 2 cents anyway.

@ Raulaun yea that'd be cool like that. also lmao the man-a-pult is awesome.

@ Stormeh i was thinking along the same lines. i would add to the diversity or the game as well as fitting nicely into some form of content expansion.

Its a cool feature but i think they are going to concentrate on the diversity of the different factions instead of sub-factions.

But if they would implent it ,it would be awesome to see subfactions in this kind of way.

- Dark elves ( prefer to see it as a faction alone)
Elves - Wood elves
- High Elves

- Men of the North ( some kind of viking like humans)
Human - Human empire
- Horse lords ( army with good cavalry bonusses.

Just an example but there would be just a change in skins and you get a additional bonus with resources + 1 or 2 extra units
