Let me explain what happened, I was trying to level my wizard of the deep, im a long way from the lightning spell I want to use. The wizard of the deep has no low level offensive spells, meaning you have to be level 40 to use an offensive spell. So to level him i sent him to the frontlines, I just got him to 20 when i recieved an email on my phone, the 2 seconds it took me to read that email my shield ran out and he died. My wizard lost 8 levels from that 1 death which is absurd, because it seems to only get higher depending on the level he was when he died.

Death penalty should not be a 50% decrease in level, expecially since the wizards start with 0% resistance to begin with, as well as incredibly low damage and probably the worse stat point progression since the history of the game, its even lower then other units stat growth, but I am not complaining about their stat change, I like the idea of levels not meaning that much, but for the wizard their level means EVERYTHING. 40 energy? and only 8 per skill point increase, only 2.5 % hp per point, and only 2 points per skill point in resistances? Im not saying these are bad, but when you combine them with the severe level loss penalty this really sucks.

He does have a point, wizard level progression is just stupid, they rely on offensive spells to get xp but the ones that do have the low lvl spells only get 1-3xp per use anyways, it takes a long time to get 200 xp on 1-3xp every 24 seconds. Assuming you get 3xp per use (not likely) i
Divided 60 by 24 and it came to 2.5 times that by 3 is 7.5xp in a minute. Divide 200 by 7.5 and you get 26.666 repeating...thats almost half an hour for 1 lvl and it only takes longer at higher levels, the only viable option is to use gold that I don't have because i spent it on regular units because those are more viable.

Upon unlocking the fire wall skill i've found it a heck of alot easier to lvl him up than with just the fire blast and the Inferno skills.

I've also found that using hide along with Inferno i become an invisible walking ball of death that can walk up to enemies and burn them unchallenged :)

Rosenten the Wizard of the deep gets his first offensive spell in lvl 30... not 40 :) level 40 is a teleport and lvl 30 is Lightning storm

In patch 22 this weekend you`ll see a new progression - he`ll have his lightning storm much earlier - level 26 I believe. Also XP gain is faster. And the penalty will be 10% of the levels in patch 22. So if Wizard level 100 dies, he`ll loose 10 levels, if level 30 dies, he`ll only loose 3 levels.
