Between 2001-2003 it had a different name, I am wondering what that was?

Please don't answer this for the next 24 hours. It's for a trivia challenge.

There's other ways to find the answer. ;)

Yeah, I know there are other ways of finding the answer. Its the internet. I just dont have all day to go looking for them. Its not against the rules to ask the answer to the question in a forum. ;)

The information does exist on these forums somewhere. Mind you, it's so heavily buried you might never find it.

I even know which thread it was that the information was stated in, and it took me nearly fifteen minutes to find the thread and the post.

Alex, you are the devil. :p This is going to take me more than all day. :P

Hey Darvin: At least you've been here since the conception of the forums, so you have a basic idea of where something might be.

DoF's Publisher is EA (http://www.reverieworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=554) The things you dig up are interesting. :P

I'm sorry, but I never said it would be easy and not take time. ;)
It's not explicitly stated, no. But the devs will know almost all of these off the top of their heads and the keys are to be handed out at my discretion, so I'd appreciate you looking for the information yourself if you want to show your passion and anxiety for the game.

And the answer was Elements. :)

While I sure hope not, that definitely would get DoF's name out and about.
And the other day I saw that they had big plans and were hiring for their Ontario building. Ooh, the conspiracy! ^_^

Just in case you are curious: http://www.reverieworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91&page=7

Page seven of a thread that's been buried deep in the past.

As for EA being their publisher, I doubt it. We have several big clues about the publisher's character, and I'm seeing someone more like Stardock than EA. We know that the publisher recommended that Reverie avoid the Christmas season, which is traditionally a bad time for new IP. It appears EA still hasn't realized this, releasing titles like Mirror's Edge into that time span then crying that consumers don't appreciate new IP. We also know that the publisher appears willing to extend Dawn of Fantasy into summer 2010 if need be to further refine the title, something that sounds very unlike EA.

Maybe it is Blizzard, but he wants to launch Starcraft 2 first , then to come with a huge surprise... DAWN of FANTASY. ;) Then it becomes a pay to play game. :(

The most plausible publisher would be Paradox Interactive (http://www.paradoxplaza.com/) who is known for the games (http://www.paradoxplaza.com//index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=44&Itemid=126) such as MAJESTY2: THE FANTASY KINGDOM SIM (http://www.paradoxplaza.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=482&Itemid=) upcoming title, COMBAT MISSION: SHOCK FORCE (http://www.paradoxplaza.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=178&Itemid=199), KNIGHTS OF HONOR (http://www.paradoxplaza.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=56&Itemid=146) and MOUNT & BLADE (http://www.paradoxplaza.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=524&Itemid=228).

Paradox seems quite plausible. As I said the character of the publisher we've heard of doesn't seem to match EA.

At all cost stay away from EA, they bone everything they take over..

better choices would be

Bethesda ( Oblivion )
Square Enix ( Supreme Commander )
THQ ( WarHammer )
Sega ( Total War Series )
Eidos Interactive ( Battle Stations Pacific )

( Recent Titles )

And if I recall Mount an Blade is an Indie title Not sure when Paradox picked it up maybe more money will make that game awesome. It has been out for over a year just under the Indie label. They did recently release an expansion though.

THe title everyone needs to watch out for is Diablo 3 which is slated to release soon..

Diablo III shouldn't be a problem. It's not an RTS and the earliest I can see it released is Q4 2010. Hopefully it will be huge but shouldn't threaten DoF's success.

Paradox seems like a really good choice for this game...

Steam? Nooo lol that'll be just weird.

For the EA bit they are hiring in Waterloo for a "new social gaming platform".

Paradox is a good choice, but I am not sure that they picked it up, a phone call helps, they did not deny it, in fact the guy I talked to never had heard of the game. So I would not rule it out, but if they are they hide it well.

I think we need to look off the beaten path.

We know Telefilm Canada is a big investor since at the earliest 2006 Here (http://www.telefilm.gc.ca/data/Communiques/rel_715.asp)

I also checked out a few leads in Telefilm and Through CanDev's and none of them know. I believe it is not one of the ones listed because knowing most of those publishers they would not likely keep this quiet.

But as far as I know I have spent a couple of hours calling a few contacts and have come up completely dry.

Well this game is very unpopular for now... I wonder how they plan on advertising it.

Steam... ugh, hate Steam. If they're going through Paradox, it will likely end up on Impulse. Paradox has a deal with Stardock to put their games on Impulse (http://forums.sinsofasolarempire.com/336289). Fortunately, unlike Steam, Impulse is only used for patching or buying the digital version of the game. You don't have to run it while you're playing the game.

Also just because an employee answering the phone at Paradox hasn't heard of the game doesn't mean they aren't the publisher. No official announcement has been made yet, so likewise it's quite possible a receptionist is still in the dark.

Well this game is very unpopular for now... I wonder how they plan on advertising it.
It's not "unpopular", as that implies very few people like it. Rather, the problem is that very few people know it exists. That can be changed very easily with a good marketing campaign, something the publisher will be working on.

Any large gaming company we're familiar with would have been fluffing it and hinting at it for a long time now. So I doub't it's a big name publisher like EA or Blizzard (and we can be thankful for that) Eidos would have probably set up a forum for this game by now. I think most listed would have announced something. So really it could be anyone most likely a newer or small name publisher.

Blizzard's not a (independent) publisher, so I think we can ignore that option. ;)

We meant their owners, least I did. Vivendi last I checked. They get sold and traded sooo much...til WoW came out lol.

If we sell out to EA, I'm quiting this job, I'm sure many more members of our team would do the same which DOF would then instantly form a new company with a 'new' game.

Blizzard only publishes Blizzard games, I think.

...
Please do not phone random publishers say "Are you the publisher of Dawn of Fantasy?"
Not only will you look stupid, but you might slander DOF aswell.
