If any of you ever heard of Prototype, this might interest you. (http://blog.litos-hq.com/blog1.php/2009/05/16/thank-you-vimeo)

I made an 8 minute fully HD music video on it.
Largest, longest, and heaviest video I've ever made.
I've been making music videos like this for years, but never made anything this long/large/heavy. I'm also "known" a bit for making that fan trailer of DoF.
Enjoy!

There's an annoying msn ding during vid lol, edit it out! Also I could never get into that game really, but I wouldn't want to drive one of those if I did lol. Here I thought the bf2142 cars were fragile.

Part of me says that's pretty cool, kudos on a nice trailer. It fits well to the music, which I love by the way.
But the rest of me thinks that, due to your complaining and whining, it's more of an obsession than a labour of love. What's the point, for 3 minutes 16 of game trailers?

LiTos456
07-12-2009, 03:51 PM
Thats what I thought at the end... I didnt whine, it was a pain to make so I just thought I could write about it. But ok fine, I removed it, hope you're happy.
Personally I'm disappointed with the video, but I'll just blame it on vegas, it was a real b****

That's the first time anyone tells me my video bored them, out of like 40 videos or something.
Oh and sparrow, the 17 ratings and the 5 starts over one day should speak for themselves
It's worth watching.

I checked it out, not my kinda music, and the videos not bad it has potential but if you can pull off the same thing except cut it together better (to make it look like a single game, or just have the clips fit together) that'd be an amazing video.

LiTos456
07-13-2009, 03:15 PM
What do you mean by clips fit together?
And the whole point is to have many games. And also the song Getting away with murder matches the setting of most of these games, and also sounds like "Gaming away with murder", and a good fast paced song so that's why I chose it.

Aametherar
07-13-2009, 03:26 PM
I know, I mean for example the race car one driving around the corner cuts to a guy on the war game getting out of a car then firing a rocket at a tank as a plane flies over cutting to flight sim game...for example. Don't get me wrong I like the video a lot, I just think theres also a lot more potential there for a future one ^_^

LiTos456
07-13-2009, 04:07 PM
I do want to make a new version, but there's no way I can make something with such a good idea (song+name+most games involve getting away with murder), so I can only be thinking of a revised version of this, I'd gladly fix it up and add some more footage of games that got less footage in this one, and vice versa, but I wish I could then reupload the video to youtube and replace it with this one, to have all the comments/ratings/views, since it won't be much changes except some bug fixes and as I said maybe some more/less footage for games.

Not boring as such :p Its just... a weird thing I have... I can be having a great time but still be bored at the same time... Also I didnt see a point in some of the clips or the vid as a whole... It was good mate, I would totally give it a 4 or 5 star rating because it was very good :)

And yes it is worth watching :p

My first ArmA 2 video where I film and edit the footage myself (except that small gameplay one). The graphics could be better, but my FPS was low as it is, so I had to speed up the original recording.

u should make some more arma2 videos, i really enjoy watching them for some reason, i really wanna get the game but my laptop wont handle it so i gotta wait to get a new computer........but in the meantime you should make a video of a crapload of soldiers in a large open field and then call in an airstrike and mess them all up (in the meantime youd be up on a hill watching). that would be a sweet video

Awesome vid, but if it's a clan advert souldn't some black order ships actually be pouncing those two groups annihilating them <.< (Notice how I always have something to say? lol) Anyways the vid is awesome, graphics look incomplete in the game and um those ships are in dire need of larger weaponry, looks like they're shooting anti-fighter guns at eachother. Yup yup, awesome vid tho.

add some missiles and have em launching fighters at eachother flying between em (if possible) and you got an epic battle going, it'l look like a ripoff of battlestar galactica hah! :P i'm sure it took a lot of work to get the people together to do what you did though, and there's no doubt it's an awesome vid.

Another new video from yesterday :)

Nice selection of opening cinematics, Although i think there was possibly to many rocket shots and large explosions would of been nice to have some slow mo or real time fire fights in a extended mode.

The idea of just blowing everything makes the gameplay look alittle shallow (in my opinion although i havent played the new red fraction so im not sure if that is actually all the game play?)

Also the music made me smile. For some reason i found it both amusing and effective. Somewhat of a contrast i guess from the carnage being unloaded on screen.

LiTos456
09-30-2009, 02:22 PM
it isn't exactly all you do in the game but most things all round up to having to explode things yes and other times things just get damaged as a result for example after having a firefight. There are however missions such as deliver vehicles and stuff that don't involve destruction.

Hmm cool, sort of like on GTA when you cant wreck the car before delivary:P
i always hated thoose missions. And looks like it was a nice look at it then. Just a few more fight sequences between people would make it 10 times better :)

still great job keep it up!

LiTos456

You can wreck the car before you deliver it. And that cancels the mission. In fact you can do it before you even start the mission. It respawns later though.

wills370
11-25-2009, 03:07 AM
Both very affective, the music was both in keeping with the theme of both games but yet added a modern twist esecially in the case of call of duty video.

the assasins creed video i felt showed much more of a story than COD2 from his training to his heartbreak and what he became nice selection of shots including fighting and interaction with characters. COD2 contained a nice selection also and showed the amount of variety in the game. Nice job on both accounts.

I have went through HELL making this. Sony Vegas couldn't handle 50 game trailers and my 4 GB RAM wasn't enough, so it took me an extremely long and stressful non-stop time to salvage and fix everything from broken project files, then continue, then it happened again... Perhaps in some years, when I finally have my dream of working as a video editor for some game developer. *sigh*

But really, I don't want to sound self centered but I make a lot of videos and this one really surprised me... it's SO much like an official trailer with the voices and everything, I just LOVE how it came out.
I'm gonna make sure the Mass Effect community sees this!

Good luck with your dream! You're heading in the good direction. What I'm going to try (I want to become game programmer or 3d artist) that also might be good for you is getting some work (internship or in the case of video editor just one trailer) for a not well known game (a free game for example) so you have something that counts as experience. I don't know about video editing, but for programmers and artists you often need experience before you can get into the more interesting companies (and then we're not talking about the really big companies).

What program(s) are you actually using for your videos?

It's not really having the skills for something. It's all about practising.

At my school I have seen a lot of great guys, from who you would think they just had the talent. But when you see their work of a few years earlier, you understand that they just kept on working hard to improve their skills.

Try not to thing that way. I know you've heard this a lot, but practice makes perfect.

When I first started modeling I hated it and I sucked. I then kept on it during the first quarter we started and I got better. I have been modeling for around a year now and have come along way. I am now just geting into high poly modeling with mudbox. I am starting off better with that from the anatomy I have done.

You are probably looking at other peoples work as a whole which you shouldn't. All art is a process of building up. You start out big and then small. Which means you start out with the most general shapes or objects and the work your way done to the small detail. If that makes sense.

it does, but i mean i used years to learn German but i still can barely say hallo who bist du, and i don't even know if i spelled everything right. LiTos, what's the Romanised form of Litos in Russian? I just remembered that litso in "A Clockwork Orange", by Anthony Burgess, meant face in nadsat, Burgess' combination of pseudo-Russian and English. Just an interesting, literary point for you :p

You know I am a fan of biowares games (one of my favorites is Jade Empire), but I couldn't get into mass effect. I should try it again. I didn't like gears of war the first time I tried it.

Haha glad I'm your inspiration. I suggest Sony Vegas, of course.
Thanks guys, and Jack its 26th January in the US and 29th in Europe. I can't wait!!
Krabs, what you gotta do is not rush the game. I rushed it at first, and just the day before yesterday I beat it the 2nd time, where I did every single side quest and everything. And at the end, I got a rather... different, shocking ending. I was so surprised because that wasn't what I expected since I got something different before, and I was even more amazed with the game than I was the first time. This game has a huge replayability value, trust me.

Edit: Hey guys, anyone know of any good sad song? I want to make an emotional/dramatic video about Mass Effect, inspired by this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7vfEs0AXukQ) video. Wow great great job. Think this might be your best video yet. The selection of shots was very good. The introduction of each character was effective and set the scene for there personalities also. the frog looking one to be a fighter/trigger happy (sorry didnt play mass effect 1 :P looking to play 2 though), and the mystical magic based one being a wrathful figure. the clips were also all short but all formed a longer notable story so thats well done aswell. Also better being short as it makes the watcher think about it. The music was GREAT! really nice choice. Also like the fact there was no voices to be heard. Kind of made it feel more bad ass lol :P. cinematics was a nice selection so cant fault it there either. Nice shots of the ship aswell :).

One small critisism is that there was a repeat shot of the magic based lady bending down and grabbing the throat of 2 difrent people right after one another..While this is very small it did make me think.Havent i already seen this? But that is suck a small thing i wouldent say it warents a change. :)

It's actually originally like that. It's not a repeat shot, however it is for some reason the other woman going on top of her and then they suddenly switch. This was a piece in the original trailer and... I honestly have no idea how the hell that's even possible, I guess I'll see in game when I get to that scene.

Great Metro 2033. I do agree that it is nice not to see a game set in post-apocalyptic america. There are a few gameplay things that look interesting (nothing really new), but it is the story that inerest me. I want to get the book, but can't find an english version.

Yeah I don't get why people keep comparing it to Fallout as it is clearly like stalker (made by people who worked at that company).

Great trailer.

Aametherar: I'm thinking of revising it later today, I might put in something like that.

Krabs: Actually there are many new gameplay things (but mostly annoying/realism's sake ones): You have to worry about your mask cracking, time until you run out of filters for it, stealth (shooting out lights etc). Also bullets have to be used wisely as they're used as currency too.

I break features down(after some of my teacher told me about breaking down gameplay). mask cracking (items breaking, many games have this), run out of filters, limited use of items (many games have this), stealth (a lot of games have this feature just hope its not treated thirdly like other FPSs), ammo currency/limit, again limited use items and dual use/trade worth. I do like the twist they put on them these features.

Most of these feature that the game has have been used before, just in a different way. Don't miss understand what I am saying Its just that I am looking forward to the story more then the gameplay(even though everything they mention for the gameplay I am excited about).

Get Video. I just beat Metro a few days ago. I recommend it to anyone that likes shooters or post-apocyliptic games or both.

My only complaints are that it shouldn't have been a "one man army" type game(should have had a person with you more than what was in the game) and that this game should have been open world. The Subway station just feels like a good setting for exploration.

LiTos456
03-27-2010, 07:42 PM
If it was open world, the plot would be unfocused.
And this game has more missions with someone else rather than alone unlike a lot of other games.

Henry Martin
03-27-2010, 07:50 PM
agreed, some what. You could still have the plot focused, by using the enclosed enviornment of the metro to help. We are probably not going to agree on this. I was thinking the way you where about the open world, but feel that this game could be open world and focus as it is.

Yeah I know, but majority of the game you are alone.

blackfang
03-27-2010, 08:18 PM
Every game should have a quest line (optional) a free world and lots of minor quests. Then they are awesome, check out oblivion for instance... Open world and a quest line, and then look at all the side quests... I would not say its a failure if other game companies learned from that elder scrolls team:D And thats why i found terminator salvation boring after beating it in one day:(

LiTos456
03-27-2010, 10:28 PM
Not every game. Any game that's open world is less focused on the true story. That's a fact. Why? Side quests distract you. You know the story and you will do it, eventually, but it's not as focused.

Henry Martin
03-27-2010, 10:58 PM
I will agree that side quest distract, but I still say that you can have a focused storyline with an open world game. Also open world adds a lot of natural replay ability to games that linears games wont have, like exploration for one, which as humans, we like to do. I also agree that not all games should be open world.

You in a sense have to pull/force/draw the player toward where you want them. Yes it will be more difficult in a open world game, but thats what makes games fun and not a linear movie.

Also there are the scripted events which is what majority of games depend on to add tension, storytelling, atmosphere, etc. You just have to use the tools you have in a clever way. Open world games don't unfocus storytelling it alters the way a games designer has to be creative about telling a story.

It all comes down to being creative as that is the whole point of a game designer.

blackfang
03-28-2010, 10:53 AM
Every game SHOULD BE open world! However i can make an exception for mine sweeper and solitude;) If it was up to me then we would have Cs source open world:D

LiTos456
03-28-2010, 12:33 PM
Yes, open world games can have a focused story.
But never as focused as a linear game. That is still a fact.
This game shouldn't be open world. If you want an open world Metro, go play stalker. See how that came out.

blackfang
03-28-2010, 03:36 PM
no thx, i don't want to download it... And buying it is too expensive for little me:( The reason why i want a open world is because i HATE playing things again, (reason i quit wow was because it was the same stuff that happened over and over and thats no good either...) For instance take overlord 1 and 2, they are like the BEST games involving you playing the bad guys... I cruised through both, quite fast really... a week on the first and 3-4 days on the second... But i got really tired of the same areas all the time, it really is incredibly boring when you try it again... However the story in both is awesome so the first time was like WOOOOW WTF is this and i played through it gave me many hours of fun but after playing over it one time i just felt it was boring and stopped... Then we have a game called wurm online, it really is terrible in graphics and everything except for gameplay and the open world... It took me a year to get tired of that one, or oblivion... Kept me entertained for almost 2 years:D So a game to reach my top ten list gotta either have
1) walkable walls
2) open world
3) not being wow
And as far as i am concerned DOF got all 3 of them covered:D (open worlds meaning for me is not like totally open however thats fun too, but instanced is possible as well if the instances are not just part of a straight line you have to follow at all costs...)

That is my opinion...
Btw of lotr i prefer bfme in front of bfme 2 cause that got walkable walls:D

LiTos456
03-29-2010, 12:14 PM
I guess people prefer different things. I respect and love linear games for their story, if it's good that is, while open world games are good for more open ended experiences and occasionally messing around.

Henry Martin
03-29-2010, 01:21 PM
I respect what you mean about linear style games. Since I have been in my Game design program for about 2 1/2 years now I have been looking at games differently.

I believe that that an open world game can get a linear storyline experience, but you get an add element of playing through and have a diferent experience everytime. Thats why we play games because they are different then movies, by letting you make choices. I am one that loves games with geat storylines, but I like a game that lets you explore(by explore I don't mean a short hallway to the left).

I know what you guys mean about linear games. I remember a LucasArts game way back [Win98] - Jedi Knight [or Dark Forces II] and its sequel Mysteries of the Sith [Dark Forces III]. I got so good at those FPS games that I could play them with the monitor off. I mastered them so thoroughly that I could play them in bed with a keyboard and nothing else. Needless to say, They got quite boring after a year or two [I like DRAINING my games - I don't waste a single cent I spend on games], though I still play them every once in a while for nostolgia - my memory of some levels is getting a little fuzzy.

Still, I hate open-world games that are too vague, or unspecific. With those, I end up wasting hours upon hours wandering around because the goals are too abstract for me to know where to go or what to do. Still, I have enjoyed some Open-world games. I guess the key is with the develepor. Linear games can be a lot of fun if the develepor is good and designs a huge expansive story tree. [many different possible beginnings, many different possible ends].

You are right. When most developers make open world games they don't focus on the story its self(thats why they seem to suffer in that aspect and why we are debating this). They seem to focus on the open world and side quests/exploration things that you can do. Its on the developer to focus you.

Linear game depend on scripted events which would translate well into a non-linear game.

Thats why I believe metro 2033 would be great open world game. If you ask most people if they would want to just explore the metro station they would want to. I do see why Litos would disagree, but a developer could use metro 2033's cramped environment to an advantage of catering to linear story and open world.

Sorry for distracting from the thread Litos456. Hope you don't hate me.:)

LiTos456
03-30-2010, 08:19 AM
Np, well the thing is if Metro was made open world they probably would end up like all other devs not focusing on the story.
Another reason why linear games naturally focus more is because well, there's NOTHING ELSE besides the story in the game, haha. There's no escape from it not for a second. :p

blackfang
03-30-2010, 11:41 AM
So how linear do you want it? That uncharted 2? I mean the multiplayer was beyond anything i have on ps3 (stormrise can almost reach tough) Anyways that game was like you following a single path through the entire game, the only problem was finding what you had to do. There was ALWAYS one path, the same with terminator salvation. I mean all they focus on is that you do exactly the same thing every time you play through. Although it is quite fun playing through once, but after that it gets incredibly boring, i don't even want to try finding new stuff inside it since it gets so incredibly boring. However for instance oblivion, by the time i was done with it i had explored everything there was to explore. I had killed every villager once and looted them for all they had. I had filled one of my houses with equipment just laying on the floor, well pretty much everything was explored. Then i got shattered islands and knights thingie and i cruised through them too. Then when there was nothing left i started modding for new stuff:rolleyes: Then one day i found out that the mods were no good so i started creating my own, tough it was never released but it was kinda fun anyways. Then i formated the computer and i began playing something else.

The problems with the games of this age is stuff like closed worlds and only one way to go. The only thing you really can change in the game is how you approach the enemy, are you going behind the left cover or the right cover? Are you going to just charge in or stay back? Are you going to hurl a grenade now or stay down? Are you going to shoot your shotgun at the charging enemy or are you going to melee him? There is never the question about; do you want to walk away from the enemy? Do you want to go around the enemy? Do you want to do something else and come back later? You know linear games are fun with that story but once you know it there is nothing left to it. It is just another movie you are watching while controlling your character, especially a movie you have seen hundreds of times before...

Anyways my point of view is that if it got walkable walls it is fine
If it got open world it is good
If it is not wow then its great
If you set a + between all those then it is BEYOND awesome. (however just two of them makes it a great game.)

So i never bother buying any more of those linear games when i can have countless more hours playing better games with open worlds...

It is up to you if you prefer linear games of course i love em if i only borrow them from a friend but if i am to buy it i would rather look at open worlds or strategy games...

LOL! nice.:) Is it due to the copyright stuff? Great crysis video and assassin's creed 2.

Yeah. The copyright stuff happened over the course of 1.5 years though, so it's stupid how they don't expire.

Also it's not LOL or nice actually, but yeah, that's the run down

I would suggest you'd make your own thread as at this point you're pretty much hi-jacking mine.

Oh I'm really sorry. I thought since there were other people that posted videos, I thought that I could. I will do that then. Thank you. :)

I am proud to announce my latest project, in teaser form.

This is going to be a full fledged machinima, running at around 6 minutes long. It will follow the story of a man who found himself as a soldier in Takistan and witnessed the most terrifying horrors of mankind.

Hey guys, I just released a new video after beating Mafia 2. The game is awesome, and I think it deserved the trailer. I feel bad for all the loyal Mafia 1 fans though, they're so disappointed :(
