Squads abilities

Where I can find a wiki about soldiers abilities and information how to use them ?
For example , I don't know why do I need a weak halberdiers or mercenaries , if I have knights in my army ? What the difference between human archers and dwarven riflemen ? What the difference between elven and knight horsemen ?

On this topic http://www.reverieworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5359 you will find a wiki for DoF. Although it might not be update I still believe it is useful. Also there is a guide there. I have to said I didnt read anything on it, just pass throw, so I cant say if its a good or bad guide.
