friends co op

Hey, im new to the game.. but me an a few friends picked it up.. i was wondering.. in able to co op an do ally quests together do we all have to be the same race? can i be an elf an others be humans and still co op together? or do we have to be the same race/ same region in order to do that?

You can coop even if you make part of other race or region.
