View Full Version : Banditing

Noticing all the talk recently of moving armies across the map, I was curious. Sure you have creeps, but will it be possible to accrue men and resources with a small village, or just a camp. Thus allowing you to be semi-nomadic? In other words: Can I just be a bandit that attacks people around the world, kind of like a free company? OR, do I have to start a city, settle down, grow crops, and do all that stuff before I get into the action?
Understandably there would be disadvantages to not starting a town, rather severe ones I would hope, but partially for modding, partially for floating players, and partially because I think it would be awesome: Can we just wander with a band of dudes, instead of making a village?

You cant be bandits.
But im sure you can fight thieves and that :)

Wow, that's actually a brilliant idea... I don't see why this shouldn't be possible. You simply have little advantages over the big castles, yet you do have more advantage when you're not around the stronghold.. or just fighting other bandits. Honestly, that would be a great idea, and if this was in the game I would have probably been a bandit.

Yeah but you can't use it online....

Something to think about for the first DoF expansion, perhaps?

Hopefully... Though it will be a major change, most users wont take it, only new ones because by then we'll have highly developed kingdoms.

I'm confuzzled, I thought that we could use mod material online, IF the server allowed it?

Yeah that's for skrimmishes, but for the MMO mode you cant use mods because its one big global server.

Human players will be able to have large armies ambush other human armies in camp vs camp battles which is pretty much instant war without large strongholds, the defeated army can gets looted for resources, you would still have a home stronghold though; it is the primary way it replaces armies' dead troops and resources. ;)

camp vs camp battles? So you can camp? so technically you CAN send out a bunch of bandits to roam around yet still have a home stronghold?

This was along the lines of the idea I had for a minotaur race in a future expansion. It's such a new and unique way to play the game.

I like the idea of roaming around with an army, with the idea of banditing for resources can you also recruit/force weak villagers and other units to join you on the way? Would be cool to kill off a few warriors in a camp and then force them to join your army and would also mean a player doesn't have to keep returning home to get more men to bandit with.

I don't know if you could control/take-over units that way. I'm not entirely sure how that would work.

Perhaps low morale + low health = units become neutral captives and after some time they join army of the winner? just a thought.

I could see that. I wish an army could just focus on being mercenary somehow. That would be pretty cool. Maybe on one mission, you could be in charge of bandits, have to sneak into a castle and steal resources or abduct a hero unit. It would kind of be the opposite of the wizard rescue thing mentioned in the one thread.
