All of this can also be found on my DeviantArt page (http://jabrosky.deviantart.com/), but this is the stuff I'm happiest about:

These are nice pictures and I would really like to see some "Bantu" mercenaries later in DoF.

I would go further and ask for a whole playable black civilization (or subfaction within Men). In fact I may draw some concept art for what that civilization's units might look like.

Thanks guys!

Coming up soon (probably Wednesday when I come home to a good scanner---right now I'm at my parents' house for Christmas) is a black spearman inspired by szebus's request for "Bantu" mercenaries in DoF. His costume design is inspired mostly by ancient Egyptian culture although there are some other African influences as well. It's a pity I don't have any modding skills because I would love to get such units into the game!

Here's the concept art for the hypothetical black DoF soldier I mentioned earlier:

His outfit is mostly Egyptian-inspired although the shield's design was influenced by the Maasai culture of Kenya. If only someone would mod this into the game!

http://fc03.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2011/364/a/1/maiherpi_the_fan_bearer_by_jabrosky-d4krkup.jpg
Maiherpi was an ancient Egyptian nobleman whose tomb was found in the Valley of the Kings near modern Luxor. Although his official title was "Royal Fan-Bearer", he is thought to have additionally served as an adviser or bodyguard for the New Kingdom Pharaoh Thutmose IV. Some have speculated that he was of Nubian heritage due to a depiction of him as jet-black in his copy of the Book of the Dead, but it must be remembered that sometimes Egyptian characters were painted jet-black to symbolize resurrected souls.

The Afro that Maiherpi wears here is based on an actual wig stitched onto his mummy.

Superb. How do you make these?

I draw them on paper, outline them with a black pen, and color them in GIMP.

http://fc04.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/017/3/b/alexander_iii_of_macedonia_by_jabrosky-d4mnnbe.jpg
My vision of Alexander "the Great" III, the famous Macedonian general who conquered the entire Persian Empire and brought about the so-called Hellenistic Age.

There's a huge debate on the interwebs over whether Alexander and his Macedonian people were Greeks as popularly believed or instead a separate ethnic group with their own language. I find the Macedonian side of the argument more persuasive, as ancient Greek writers explicitly called the Macedonians "barbarians" and otherwise spoke of the Greeks and Macedonians as if they were distinct peoples. Ergo, I decided to go with a more "barbaric" design for my rendition of Alexander, giving him a bearskin cape and Celtic-style face paint.

Drawn at UCSD and photographed with my iPhone.

http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/035/1/2/egyptian_peasant_village_by_jabrosky-d4om006.jpg
This is supposed to be a lower-class peasant village in ancient Egypt. I actually have no idea what Egyptian peasant houses would have looked like during the Pharaonic period (as far as I know, the majority of the houses that have been recovered at archaeological sites belonged to nobility and middle-class artisans, not peasantry), so this is only a layman's guess. I still like drawing simple huts like these though.

http://fc00.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2012/079/1/d/uzosi_raider_by_jabrosky-d4tcq4i.png
The nomadic, pastoral uZosis have long been a thorn in Keshta's side, habitually raiding its desert frontiers. Originally divided into numerous warring clans, the uZosis have recently begun organizing into one larger nation which poses a worsening threat to Keshtan hegemony.

As you might guess from the name and outfit, the uZosis have a vaguely Zulu inspirational source.
