I also don't know anything about the games. Never seen a vid or a pic, and dont plan on gettingg either game. So I'll just vote for DoW cuz I don't quite like a space rts.

DoW is a space RTS. Anyhow I'm voting for SC as it is older, has a bigger fanbase and overall is the superiour RTS. I'd go far enough to say that you can't call yourself an RTS gamer if you haven't played SC.

Ummm people, he's asking about DoW 2 and SC 2, neither game is out and even though some of you seam to realize this you're all talking about the old DoW and SC.
In any case I've seen more of these topics than I'd like to, they never end well.

I do realise that he's talking about DoW 2 and SC 2 and I've read a lot about both games and played the previous ones from both franchises. I'm basing my vote on both information I have for the sequels so far aswell as on personal experience with DoW 1 and SC 1.
As for DoW 2 and SC II: http://pc.ign.com/articles/943/943461p1.html

Well, that'd be interesting if you did play either of them because neither are out yet.
And while I love both series very much I'm probably looking forward to DoW2 because it's coming out this most (if my memory serves me correctly). Also when Blizzard decided to turn SC2 into 3 separate games that made me...mad to put it lightly

Its quite obvious that SC2 is gonna be the more popular game and better.. due to the fact who's behind it, and what it can achieve.
So.. ofc SC2 is the better game. But i bet DOW2 isnt a bad game.

Yes, but not at the time he had posted, it only went public for those with Soulstorm on the 21st of January, and to all on the 27th.

starcraft 2 is a RTS with econ management
dawn of war II is pretty RTT (real-time tactics)... even its developers call it that if not officially. yeah, it's a subgenre of RTS, but they're two different games. it's like RTS vs. TBS being a subgenre of strategy

I'm not a fan of VS threads but they don't have to be bad if handled correctly.
Anyhow, I was enjoying the DoW II beta a lot until the latest patch completely broke racial balance. Still, I pre-ordered it and I hope that the 0-day patch will fix most balance issues and bugs.

DoW II is officially out now and I'm happily playing it. It blew away my expectations with the single-player campaign.
