I know this has to do with something else, but if this company treats its supposed new paying clients this way, im very scared what kind of mentality they have when we have paid.

Here it is:

Indeed I totally agree with you. No devs online in ages, no news in ages, just give me your cash all the time. This game will be doomed from the start if they dont get transparant and real fast. No beta keys given to new people like they promised. Why should we pay then?

You haven't bought the game yet, nor is the game finished. We don't ow you anything and beta is but only a privilege NOT a Right. And I feel our promises in terms of dates and timeline are a privilege on your part to even know of them, we could (and I think should) be more like Valve. I see why they went that way is because they don't want to waste their time on unproductive things like this entire thread.

I am not in any control of the beta keys nor is it my responsibility, but I can tell you that we are working overtime this weekend to get the game running great the next patch just like we did the last 2 weeks. I have not had a day off since the 1st and since then I've worked more than 130 hours. You do the math.

In previous posts you speak of "delivering" in words of promise towards dates and deadlines... dates and deadlines are nothing if we don't first keep our promises to the game itself. ;)

I think this thread should have been made AFTER the keys are released, not before. Surprises are more interesting.

Wow. This troll is starting to get really annoying.

So, Im a troll? Why? Because I dont kiss the ground the devs walk on? I mean man, with a forum name like yours, you must be compensating for something, because you cant be great at an age of 10 lol!

But honest, why not answer my question? Its not that hard is it?

You aren't a new paying client, you haven't payed yet,and they don't owe you anything, plus you might not know but betas never were suposed to be for people to try out the game, they're done to fix bugs and get the game stable enough for release,if anything you should feel responsible if you get in the beta at all.

Also,if you don't like what that developer said you should probably quit online gaming, any game company would easily tell such a thing it realy isn't a big deal.

I'm not going to address whether or not that statement was called for, but I will address the context it was said in - as a response to criticism of our company's mission.

We are not your average studio - we never were, and we never will be. We started as a community of modders working directly with the strategy community to build a game for the players, by the players. We grew since that time many years ago, but our devotion to the fan community hasn't changed. Throughout a span of nearly ten years, we've had our share of ups and downs including a publisher that went bankrupt that set development back pretty far. We started off as an indie studio with essentially no funding - meaning that some of our developers worked years without pay - at in many of those cases, at great financial risk. But they were determined to create a new type of game - one that the community had a great role in with their many suggestions for features and new units. Despite these setbacks, the plan all along was to offer a new and affordable gaming experience with no subscription fees - at a time when subscriptions were standard for almost all MMO games. We also planned all along to offer new content post-release that could be purchased purely with in-game resources, and we are happy to say we kept both of those philosophies. For all the resources we put into the development, we haven't asked or received a cent from the fan community in all these years - and not only that, but we will be giving away free copies of Dawn of Fantasy and design credit to many of our most contributive fans and testers. Does this sound like a studio that only cares about money?

Now, of course, the studio is in a much stabler position, but it is still a fraction of the size of comparable teams, meaning that we can't always afford to divert enough resources away from development (especially in a time like this) to personally respond to all of the community inquiries and comments, but we do our best and half the dev team checks these forums regularly - I'd also like to mention our moderators who do an amazing job helping us with this aspect when we are unable to interact as much as we would like to.

So again, I'm not saying I support the quoted statement, but I hope you can understand why it irks us when Reverie is accused of not caring about the fans and only caring about money.

Aside from Alex's,

Thats a quote from me and my opinionated reply too your criticism, not from reverie. And if your going to include my quote also include yours that I was responding too. I added them for you.

I would also love too hear you correct me on what is wrong with what I said?

lol, the way the dev worded his response makes me love the company even more! Developers shouldnt be apologizing to QQ trolls because they havent received a key yet, nor should they apologize if things are buggy or things are missing. THIS IS A BETA and free at that. Quit your QQing and go back to WOW if you dont like it. Beta is not meant to be fun BETA is meant to find bugs and the devs will bring in people who will report these bugs, not people who will QQ about how crappy the game looks or feels.

That being said i would like to congradulate the devs on their hard work! This game is coming along great and i cant wait to see the further additions to it.
